A war memorial is located on Turpin Road and is a tribute to the fallen soldiers.
Storylines[]
The memorial was unveiled on 8 May 1995 as part of the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
On 8 November 2013, Patrick Trueman was outraged that the memorial had been vandalised with graffiti. Terry Spraggan decided to clean the graffiti off himself, with the help from his children and Bianca Butcher's children.
On 4 August 2014, Dot Branning oversaw and hosted the minute silence in commemoration of 100 years since the First World War began, with Lee Carter lowering and raising the Union Jack flag in his army uniform.
