Mr. Theo Hawthorne made his first appearance on 5 April 2023 and last appearance on 28 November 2023. Theo is a psychopath and is the stalker of Stacey Slater. He is portrayed by William Ellis.
Backstory[]
Theo reveals on 11 July 2023 that his mother died when he was young and his father was ill, Theo had to look after his father and as a result nearly lost all his qualifications but his teacher Mrs Eggo helped him get back on track. Theo is Freddie Slater's former geography teacher, Theo had a harsh way of teaching calling Freddie thick, lazy and stupid. Theo formerly lived in Essex, but has since moved to London. At some point prior to 5 July 2023 Theo joined Secret Cam and subscribed to Stacey Slater.
Storylines[]
When Freddie gets upset at his nan Jean Slater for implying he is "thick", he forgives Jean but during the conversation Freddie recounts how his teacher Mr Theo Hawthorne used to pick on him in school. Jean then tracks down Theo and takes Freddie. Freddie stands up to Theo and tells him that he used to make Freddie feel small by calling him thick, lazy and stupid.
The next day Theo sees Freddie in the cafe and explains that his class was hard work before apologising to Freddie and says he should of been more supportive of his ADHD, Freddie says he doesn't have ADHD. However Theo claims he could have it, Freddie later gets diagnosed to see if he has ADHD or not and it is later revealed that Freddie does have ADHD.
Stacey Slater is later furious when she finds out Theo has brought Lily trainers, Stacey does not let Lily have the trainers and orders Theo to leave. However, when Lily goes outside Theo gives Lily the trainers. Lily later wears the trainers in front of Amy Mitchell, Denzel Danes and Davinder Gulati, they ask where she got the trainers from and Lily reveals that an older man brought them for her. Davinder and Denzel say the man is a pervert and Amy tells Lily that she does think it's weird, Lily later confronts Theo and asks him if he's a pervert as that's what her friends are saying. Theo says that he can understand why her friends would think that but Theo assures Lily that he's just a family friend. Amy later tells Stacey about Lily's trainers and Stacey realises that Theo gave her the trainers back, Stacey angrily confronts Lily and demands to know if Theo gave her the trainers back. Lily tells Stacey that she found them in the bin after Theo had dumped them, Lily also says that she has got rid of the trainers and that Stacey was horrible to Theo. Stacey later sees Theo in the Vic and apologises to him, however Theo later begins watching Stacey and Lily.
Martin Fowler begins to suspect that Theo is trying to groom Lily when Theo offers to tutor Lily for free, when Martin finds out that Theo brought Lily trainers he calls Theo a paedophile in front of Theo, Lily and Stacey. Although it is later revealed that Theo is not grooming Lily it is revealed that Theo is subscribed to Stacey on Secret Cam and is stalking her. Lily is later being tutored by Theo when she goes into a false labour (braxton hickes), Theo sneaks into Stacey's room and begins sniffing her perfume, Theo finds Lily and rushes her to hospital. When Stacey and Martin are notified they rush to hospital and a furious Martin grabs Theo believing he is responsible for Lily being in hospital. however, Lily reveals what really happened and Martin apologises to Theo and Stacey thanks Theo.
Jean later sets Stacey and Theo up on a date, however the date is awkward, Stacey tells Eve that she dreamed about a man and Eve assumes it was Theo and asks him to be Stacey's plus one at Kathy Beale and Tom Cotton's wedding. However Stacey reveals to Eve that the man she dreamt about was Martin and that she felt no spark with Theo during their date, Stacey is conflicted about who should be her plus one at the wedding. Stacey gets drunk and leaves a voicemail for Martin asking him to be her plus one at the wedding. Both men turn up to Stacey's house, Stacey tells Martin that she doesn't remember the voicemail and that Theo is her plus one at the wedding, Martin convinces Stacey to cancel with Theo and go with him, however Stacey doesn't go through with it. At the wedding both men battle for Stacey with Martin kissing Stacey and then bragging about it to Theo and Theo kissing Stacey's hand in front of Martin. Stacey later chooses Martin and tells Theo they're just friends and she is sorry if she gave him any mixed signals. Stacey and Martin then kiss and sleep together.
Martin wants to get back together with Stacey but Stacey avoids answering at first, Stacey tells Eve she scared of messing things up with Martin again. Eve tells Stacey that it's supposed to be scary, Stacey then goes to see Martin and the two get back together. Stacey later tells Martin that she is still doing cam work and Martin takes it badly storming out, Although Stacey and Martin later talk and make up however it's short lived as when Martin overhears Stacey talking to one of her clients he furiously storms out and ends up having a fight in the Vic. Martin tells Stacey that he can't handle her cam work so Stacey dumps him. When Martin sobers up him and Stacey begin talking and Stacey tells Martin that nothing sexual happens during her cam work and that her and the client just talk, Stacey says her client is probably just a desperate old man. Theo overhears this and is angry, Theo then sends Stacey a sexual request and Martin sees the message and believes Stacey is lying to him, ending their potential reunion. Later on when Stacey tells her client she will not do the sexual request and Theo asks if it is because of her ex. Stacey then realises that her client is someone she knows leaving her horrified.
Theo begins sending Stacey gifts and Stacey and Eve hatch a plan to catch her stalker out by having Stacey arrange to meet them while Eve waits to pounce, however when Theo shows up and Stacey doesn't suspect him asks to talk to her about Lily's tutoring. When Eve discovers the true circumstances of her sisters death she is furious and trashes Stacey's kitchen which nearly reaults in Lily's social worker witnessing it, Theo sees an opportunity to get Eve out of the picture and manipulates Stacey into throwing Eve out. Stacey and Eve later sort things out Eve moves back in much to Theo's frustration.
On the 5 September 2023 Lily has her baby on the same day that she found out her stalker was Theo so Stacey locks Theo out and tries to help Lily go through her birth, she goes to get some towels for the birth. However, Theo enters though the back door she asks him to leave but Theo refuses and he stands infront of the kitchen door stopping Stacey to get to Lily. Before Theo can do anything Martin and Eve come into the kitchen and throw Theo out and take Lily to the hospital and she gives birth to her daughter, Charli Slater. Stacey reports Theo to the police but he denies doing anything wrong and they let him go, Theo later goes to hospital to see Lily but is spotted by Stacey and Jack Branning who both threaten him. Stacey then believes Theo is gone for good but is shocked when Theo moves into the house next door to her, Stacey then speaks to Jack about Theo and Jack suggests a restraining order but warns Stacey that it could take weeks so tells her in the mean time to write a journal of anything Theo does to her.
On the day of Stacey stalking protection Theo's day in court Theo wins the case and the court refuse to grant Stacey's stalking order against Theo, leaving her devastated. Theo then sees Stacey in the Square twice and attempts to intimidate her twice but on the first occasion Lily orders Theo to stay away and later Stacey tells Theo to stay away. Theo is later revealed to be pretending to be Freddie's dad Graham Foster on social media, however Freddie discovers this and confronts Theo in the Vic however Theo doesn't respond. While walking back to his house Theo notices Stacey’s window is open and he sneaks into her house and attempts to rape Stacey, however Freddie walks into the kitchen and sees Theo trying to rape Stacey. Theo and Freddie fight and Freddie knocks Theo unconscious with an iron, Freddie panics thinking he'll go to prison and Stacey tries to calm him down. Eve walks in and discovers what has happened, Eve being a lawyer knows how to cover up the crime. Eve comes up with the idea for Freddie to claims it's self-defense, Eve and Stacey put on gloves and Stacey goes into Theo's car and grabs a wrench. They then plant the wrench in Theo's hand, Eve then leaves and Stacey and Freddie both claim Freddie hitting Theo was self-defence. Theo is rushed to hospital and Freddie is taken to the station for questioning, when Theo wakes up in hospital he gives a statement which doesn't match Stacey and Freddie's. Upon recovering Theo moves out from 29 Albert Square.
When Theo goes to court his hearing is adjourned, Theo then goes to Walford and approaches Stacey, Stacey tells him he can't be here but Theo asks to just talk and says it will be worth it. After this, Theo is bailed to Scotland. In May 2024, it is revealed that Theo was given ten years in prison.
