The Imperial Rooms is a nightclub in the East End of London (although its implied their are more Imperial Room Nightclubs) that appeared sporadically throughout 2003. It was owned by gangland boss and Walford kingpin Jack Dalton until his death in 2003, then by his second in command Andy Hunter up until his death in 2005.
History[]
Little is know about the Imperial Rooms' history; however, it is known that Jack Dalton founded it/them, likely in the 1990's when Jack became boss of Walford investments (The Firm) and was setting up his criminal empire. Despite being a nightclub, it is merely used as a charade for violent gangland activities operated by Jack.
Jack had attacked many people in the club when it was not open to the general public, at least two incidents are confirmed, the first being when Sharon Watts tells Spencer Moon that Jack had put a man in hospital, breaking all of his fingers for attempting to scam his bar staff, The second is when Jack is meeting Phil Mitchell, Jack has a bruised face and bruised knuckles which Jack describes as a "Minor skirmish" meaning he'd just been in a fight, it's also implied/rumoured that murders took place in the Imperial Rooms which is plausible as Jack Dalton is a known killer.
Jack Dalton's reign of terror[]
The Imperial Rooms is first mentioned when Sharon Watts catches Spencer Moon buying alcohol in her club with fake £50 notes. She confronts Spencer about this and asks him if he had used this money anywhere else. Sharon is left concerned when Spencer said he'd spent some of the dodgy money at the Imperial Rooms.
Sharon later asks Phil Mitchell who currently runs the Imperial Rooms hoping Phil wouldn't say Jack Dalton but is horrified when Phil confirmed Jack is still in charge of the Club. Sharon then wastes little time warning Spencer and his older brother Alfie of who Jack is and telling them they must pay him back immediately, however Spencer doesn't have the money to pay back.
Spencer tries stealing money from the Queen Victoria, but is caught by Phil, who owns the pub, Phil is furious at first and threatens to evict the Moon's from the pub but when Spencer tells him he was trying to pay back Jack Dalton, Phil let's them off and agrees to help them out as he reveals he knows Jack, Phil then visits the Imperial rooms (first time the imperial rooms is seen on-screen) and meets Jack, Phil pays Jack the money back that he had lost due to Spencer Unintentionally scamming his bar staff. Jack agrees to not kill Spencer but tells Phil that Spencer must receive a beating at the very least, Jack's henchman later go to the Vic and beat up who they believe is Spencer, however Alfie pretends to be Spencer and takes the beating for his brother.
As Phil is leaving the Imperial Rooms Phil spots his ex girlfriend and police woman, Kate Morton, Phil immediately realises she's working undercover to expose the illegal activities going on in the Imperial Rooms.
Due to what he'd witness Phil continues to pop into the Imperial Rooms to check that Jack had not realised that Kate was working undercover, however on one visit Jack informs him that a friend in Brighton had told him of Kate's true identity, Jack then tells Phil he is sending George Peters to kill her when she finishes her shirt.
Phil then goes to Kate's house and knocks George out before he can kill her, he then takes George back to the Club and makes a deal with Jack that if he let's Kate go then he owes Jack a favour in the future.
In July Jack calls in that favour telling Phil he wants him to kill Dennis Rickman, Dennis had served an eighteen month prison sentence for Jack and wanted £20,000 or he would tell the police about Jack's crimes leaving Jack enraged. Phil initially refuses but eventually agrees. Phil later holds Dennis at gun point but let's Dennis go when Dennis says he'll kill Jack freeing them of their common enemy.
Dennis arrives at the Imperial Room's and despite almost being caught by security, manages to kidnap Jack, taking him to the woods and shooting him dead.
Fate[]
The Imperial Rooms has not been seen on screen since Jack Dalton was killed by Dennis, It is known that after Jack died that Jack's henchman Andy Hunter took over the Club, however Andy was killed himself by fellow gangster Johnny Allen in 2005, As of 2023, eighteen years later it is unknown if the Imperial Rooms remains open or not.
