The B&B Fire

"The B&B Fire" was an explosion that happened at 20 Albert Square (commonly known as the B&B), it was also the Boxing day special episode of 2011 and was the events that transpired after Christmas day.

Plot

Prior to the fire

Zainab Khan finally escaped the clutches of her abusive husband Yusef Khan, Yusef drugged Zainab and planned to kill her however Masood Ahmed knocked him unconscious, however Yusef manages to escape when Masood and others are tending to Zainab. Shirley Carter discovers that Ben Mitchell is his father Phil's blackmailer/stalker, Ben then sends a video recording to Denise Fox of her late husband Kevin Wicks and Phil talking about their dodgy cut and shut cars, Denise realises Phil supplied Kevin the Car that he had died in, Masood finds Yusef hiding in one of the rooms at the B&B with a can of petrol and matches.

The Fire

Masood confonts Yusef for his treatement of Zainab, however when Masood gloats that Zainab has left Yusef for him again, Yusef tells Masood he was the one who set Zainab on fire when they were first married, not his family as was originally suspected, Masood and Yusef have a fight which Masood wins, however when Masood turns his back Yusef knocks him out by slamming his head against the wall, Yusef then then pours petrol all around Masood and and uses a match to ignite a fire, Yusef then flees the scene.

Shirley discovers the fire when she sees smoke, Ben tries to tell people but they do not believe him, thinking he is crying wolf after he accused Christian Clarke of sexually assaulting him weeks prior which was untrue, however Patrick Trueman believes Ben and tells everyone to get out, Shirley then helps Masood get out of the burning room and he tells everyone Yusef started the fire.

The residents put out the initial fire with water, however this unintentionally causes another fire after the water goes onto electric wires, the residents do not realise this and Denise Fox re-enters the house and Masood stays to get a glass of water, Phil followed Denise back into the house and demanded Denise give him the recording, however phil and Denise realise the house is on fire again and Phil helps Denise escape, Denise still reports Phil to the police however, as the building goes up in flames Zainab sees Yusef and tells him his daughter Afia is inside the burning building, which was untrue, Yusef runs back into the building, however Zainab does not realise her son and Afia's husband Tamwar over heard this and he follows Yusef inside the building, this results in Yusef falling through the burning floor boards killing him instantly, Tamwar also burns almost to death, leaving him with severe scaring, but he ultimately survives and Masood manages to escape

Deaths

• Yusef Khan - Yusef started the fire which ultimately killed him after Zainab tricked him into re-entering the burning building by telling him his daughter Afia was inside, which was a lie, Yusef then fell through the floor boards and burned to death.
