Terry Cant is the ex-boyfriend of Carol Jackson, estranged father of Sonia Fowler and grandfather of Bex and Julia Fowler. He made his first appearance on 14 April 2025 and last on 17 April 2025, but was first mentioned on 6 March 1995. He was portrayed by Glen Davies.
Backstory[]
Terry met Carol Branning in 1984 and they quickly began a relationship. Carol already had two children at the time, Bianca and Robbie Branning, so Terry became a father figure to them, as neither of their biological fathers were present. Terry and Carol would always argue, but despite this, they had a daughter together, Sonia Branning, born on 6th May 1985. After Sonia was born, Terry left, but Carol's partner Alan Jackson took her kids in, raising them as his own.
In March 1995, after finding out that David Wicks was her biological father, Bianca demanded answers from Carol as to why he wasn't present throughout her childhood. This caused Robbie to become curious about who his biological father was, also demanding answers. Although her siblings wanted to know, Sonia said she couldn't care less about who her biological father was and that as far as she was concerned, Alan was her real father. Later, while Sonia was asleep upstairs, Carol told Bianca, Robbie and Alan about Terry. She said that they were always arguing and that he used to beat her up, eventually leaving after Sonia was born, taking everything that wasn't nailed down.
In June 2020, Sonia searched for Terry's name on the internet, hoping to contact her father, after years of absence. In May 2021, Terry comes to Albert Square to find his daughter, after receiving a letter from her. They reunite and start to bond, getting to know each other. However, in September, it is revealed that the man claiming to be Terry is actually Tom Cotton, the uncle of Dotty Cotton.

In April 2025, the real Terry comes to Albert Square after the "Coma Killer" podcast goes viral leading to him locating Bianca Jackson and Sonia Fowler after many years. Bianca and Sonia have opposing opinions towards Terry, as Bianca is wary of Terry and reminds him of how he upset Carol years ago. Terry then offers Sonia a chance to stay in Bali with him and Sonia plans to take Julia and Bex to with them. Bianca is upset by this and calls Carol, who doesn't answer, while Terry walks by and taunts Bianca. Terry grabs her arm as Carol tries calling Bianca back. The next day, Bianca shows Sonia the bruise that Terry caused by grabbing her arm. Sonia sees Terry's true personality and, after locking him in a garage with Bianca and Bex, Sonia decides to leave for Bali with both of her daughters and Bianca.
