Tariq is a guest character in EastEnders who is the cousin of Yusef Khan. He made his first appearance on 23 June 2011 and last appearance on 29 December 2011. Sgt. Lewis is also portrayed by Antony Banshee.
Storylines[]
In the streets, Tariq asks Tanya Jessop for information about an event the Masood's are hosting on 23 June 2011. This is so that he can locate Yusef Khan in order to tell him that he does not want Yusef to be affiliated with the Masood family, as they had caused the Khan family shame in the past. That same day, it is revealed that Yusef Khan was responsible for starting the fire in Pakistan which saw Zainab Masood become severely burned, with Tariq saying that he was present when it happened.
On 2 December 2011, Yusef Khan says that he will give the Argee Bhajee to Tariq in return for his silence surrounding the incident where Yusef caused Zainab Masood to be severely burned. Later that day, Afia Khan comes across Tariq in the Argee Bhajee, where Tariq reveals to her that it was Yusef who caused the fire that burned Zainab, and not the rest of the Khan family, which causes Afia to question her father's intentions for the very first time.
Tariq last appears on the 29 December 2011 after the death of Yusef in the B&B Fire. He enters the Masood house whilst they are holding a small event to commemorate Yusef. Zainab tells Tariq that he is not welcome, which is followed by Afia telling him that she resents him due to being alongside Yusef in the fire in Pakistan all those years ago. Tariq is forced to leave when Syed gets in his face and tells him that it is time for him to leave. Tariq is never heard from again.
