Sudha Bhuchar is a Tanzanian-born British Asian actress, playwriter, and co-founder of the Tamasha Theatre Company. She portrayed Meena McKenzie in EastEnders on a recurring basis from 1993 to 1994 and again in 1996.
A talented linguist, Sudha is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi, as well as being pretty good at Gujarati. Before landing the part of scheming Meena, Sudha was already familiar to TV audiences through her portrayal of ambitious Kiran Bedi in Family Pride (where she worked with future EastEnders co-star Shobu Kapoor), as well as guest appearances in shows such as Lovejoy, Boon and The Bill. She also presented the Asian interest shows East and Network East, and appeared as a semi-regular character, Usha Gupta, in The Archers on BBC Radio.
