Sister Ruth made her first appearance on 1 May 2015 and last on 6 January 2016. She was portrayed by June Whitfield.
Backstory[]
Before Sister Ruth took Holy Orders, she had two children. A girl and a boy called Barbara and Tony. Born during World War II. Her husband was on 48-hour leave from the RAF. It was the first time. Her mother had been ill so she popped out for an hour to check on her. On her way back she was caught in an air raid and by the time she reached home there was nothing left of it. A doodlebug. hit her home and he children has been killed. Sister Ruth has been at Saint Sebastian for 40 years and Kat Moon's twins babies, Zoe and Luke were Sister Ruth's last baby deliveries.
Storylines[]
Kat Moon visits Saint Sebastian and Sister Ruth hears Kat recalling the past of when she was giving birth and remembers Kat. She tells Kat about her giving birth and ask if Kat babies are ok. When Kat leaves Sister Ruth along with Sister Judith go threw the old convent records and discovers that Kat gave birth to twins, Zoe and Luke.
When Kat returns from Spain after winning the lottery, she agrees to make a charitable donation to the convent. Judith arrives in Walford and finds Kat, telling her that Ruth could not come as she is unwell. Kat sees Ruth arrive later, so invites her into her house, and Ruth tells her the full truth about what happened at the convent. She reveals that Kat passed out before giving birth to the boy, Luke and that her mother Viv Slater ordered that he be taken away from her, so he was adopted by a family in Ireland shortly after. Ruth then relays her experiences of losing her children to an airstrike in World War II. Ruth then reveals to Kat that Viv telephoned someone that night who must have known about the son, and Kat discovers that it was her grandmother Mo Harris.
