Roman Fowler (né Allen) is the son of Martin Fowler and Ruby Allen and the half-brother of Bex Fowler, Lily Slater, Arthur and Hope Fowler. He made his first appearance on 19 November 2024 and last appearance on 10 April 2025. He was portrayed by Leo.
Backstory[]
Roman's parents, Martin Fowler and Ruby Allen, split up and get divorced just after Ruby discovered her pregnancy. Ruby had previously suffered two miscarriages before this pregnancy and got diagnosed with endometriosis. Martin didn't believe her after the numerous lies she had told in their short-lived marriage (including getting Martin's ex-wife, Stacey Slater, arrested for something she didn't do). Ruby was then framed by Jean Slater and was imprisoned.
On 12 September 2024, it was revealed by Chrissie Watts to Sharon Watts that Ruby had been a cell mate of hers and had left to give birth, confirming the fact that Ruby has had Martin's baby.
Storylines[]
2024-2025: Hospital, death of Martin Fowler and exit[]
On 18 November 2024, Martin is told by Sharon Watts that Ruby had his baby two years ago. He initially didn't believe her when he confides in Stacey Slater and she tells him not to trust a con like Chrissie. Sharon then stops by and gives him a birth certificate. Martin is not listed under father and reveals the name of the baby - Roman Allen. Just as Martin processes the news of his son, Ruby turns up at Stacey's door and demands to know why Martin broke into her house. Sharon steps up and reveals she was responsible for the birth certificate being stolen. As the pair argue, Ruby reveals that they do indeed have a son together but that she gave him up for adoption when she was released from prison, three months after giving birth.
Stacey and Martin talk and they both come to the realisation that she is lying given all of her past lies. They go to see Kat Slater and ask her where Ruby's cab was taken. Kat tells them it went to a hospital. Stacey and Martin go to the hospital and cannot find Ruby. Just as they turn to leave, Stacey spots her and they follow. Ruby is seen going over to the PICU and Martin comes face to face with his son, who is from a failing liver. It was revealed that Ruby had left liquid paracetamol unattended and Roman drank the bottle and was taken to hospital, where it was revealed that he had autoimmune hepatitis.
Originally Martin vows to gain custody of Roman as he battles with Ruby. Stacey manages to persuade Martin not to go through with this. On 31 December 2024, Ruby and Martin get close as he spends New Year with her and Roman at the hospital, where they share a kiss. The former couple decide to give it another go just as Stacey overhears as she starts to regain her feelings for Martin, as they shared a kiss a couple of weeks earlier. Roman was discharged from hospital on 20 January 2025 and he moves into 43 Albert Square to be with his parents. Ruby starts to get suspicious of Martin and Stacey's closeness after she catches Martin kissing her on the cheek and lingering. Martin promises nothing is going on and that they are a family. Stacey confirms this when Ruby asks her.
After Martin's funeral on 7 April 2025, Ruby decides to change Roman's surname to Fowler in memory of his dad. After being accused of setting Martin's stall alight, Stacey confronts Ruby and they argue. Lily admits that she started the fire. Ruby decides to leave Walford after being blamed for the fire and not having any other family. She goes to see Martin at the cemetery where she makes up with Stacey before leaving with Roman.
