Peggy Melanie Mitchell (née Taylor) is the daughter of Keanu Taylor and Louise Mitchell. She made her first appearance on 6 December 2019 and last on 20 July 2023.
Backstory
Peggy Melanie Taylor was born at Walford General Hospital, on the 6th December 2019, to Keanu Taylor and Louise Mitchell. Her parents decided to name her after Louise’s deceased grandmother, Peggy Mitchell. They also decided to register her middle name as Melanie, after Louise’s close friend and mother figure, Mel Owen, who died in a car accident a month before Peggy was born.
Storylines
2019-2020: Birth and Departure
Louise and Keanu started dating in 2018. Before their relationship, Louise’s step-mother Sharon Watts was having a secret affair with Keanu, even though she was married to Louise’s dad Phil Mitchell. When Sharon ended the affair between herself and Keanu, she told Keanu he had to move on, leading to him having sex with Louise. Sharon then decided to go on holiday to clear her head - only to return to discover Louise and Keane were in a relationship. Sharon became very jealous and it wasn’t long before she and Keanu started sleeping with each other again behind Louise and Phil’s backs. This lead to Keanu getting both Louise and Sharon pregnant at the same time; however Sharon tells Phil he is the father of her unborn baby.
Peggy Melanie Taylor was then born in Walford General Hospital, on the 6th December 2019. Shortly after her birth, Peggy became ill and suddenly stopped breathing. However, the doctors managed to resuscitate her and she was rushed to the NICU, where she was diagnosed with Pneumothorax. The doctors operated on her lungs immediately and she made a full recovery, making it home on time for Christmas Day.
When Phil discovers that Keanu is also the father of Sharon’s unborn child, he tells Louise the truth, making her hate him and he and his son Ben Mitchell plan on killing Keanu, however this didn’t go to plan when Keanu kidnapped Ben’s boyfriend Callum Highway in a revenge plot against the Mitchell’s.
Louise leaves Walford on the 24th January 2020 after deciding she needs a fresh start. She takes Peggy, along side her mother Lisa Fowler and they head for a new life in Portugal. Almost a month later, on the 14th February 2020 Sharon went into labour and gave birth to her and Keanu’s son, Albie Watts.
2023: Return with Lisa
On 10 July 2023 Lisa returns to Walford and brings Peggy with her. Lisa runs away from her taxi driver after she is unable to afford the fare and runs into Sonia Fowler, revealing that Louise has been struggling with alcohol and drugs since her breakup with Keanu. Lisa also reveals she is back for revenge on Keanu. Lisa then attempts to go and see Keanu but Phil runs into her and Peggy and takes them back to his house. Peggy accidentally blurts out that Lisa has brought her to see her daddy and Phil questions why Lisa would want Keanu anywhere near Peggy after what he did to Louise, however Lisa insists Peggy has got it wrong and she will not be seeing Keanu.
Sonia’s partner Reiss Colwell decides to tell Keanu that Lisa has returned to Walford and has brought his daughter Peggy with her. Keanu races across the square where he sees his daughter for the first time in three years. Lisa allows Keanu to see Peggy but blackmails him demanding £3,000 by the end of the day or he won’t get to see her; Keanu decides to pay up as he is desperate to spend time with his little girl. When Phil finds out Lisa is letting Keanu see Peggy he is furious and threatens Keanu with violence if he tries anything.
When Keanu spends the day with Peggy he asks Lisa to see her again, and she tells Keanu if he wants another day with her then he needs to pay her £20,000 and £2,000 each month until she is eighteen. Keanu calls Lisa ridiculous and tells her hasn't got that kind of money so Lisa suggests that he take the money from Sharon. Keanu tells Lisa that he's going to tell Sharon, however Lisa threatens to tell Sharon that the money Keanu had previously gave her came from his and Sharon's wedding fund. It is later revealed Lisa is blackmailing Keanu because she is broke due to a gambling addiction. Keanu steals £10,000 of Phil's money from his safe and gives it Lisa. Keanu spends the day with both of his children, also allowing Peggy and Albie to get to know each other.
Phil later finds out about Lisa blackmailing Keanu after hearing a conversation between her and Reiss and he decides to call the police on Lisa. Phil is furious and demands answers from Keanu with Keanu explaining that he did it for Peggy and insists Phil should understand how he feels because he missed out on his son Raymond's first few years. Keanu also tells Phil that Lisa told him that Louise was in money trouble, however Phil tells him that he pays for Louise and Peggy's bills in Portugal. When Lisa is released by the police she attempts to take Peggy and leave the country, however Phil refuses to give Peggy to her, threatening to have both Keanu and Lisa arrested for stealing his money. Phil, Keanu and Sharon soon find out that Louise had gone on a spa week with her aunt Sam Mitchell and didn't know Lisa had taken Peggy to Walford.
Sharon sees Lisa sleeping rough on Arthur Fowler's bench and bring Lisa to her and Keanu's house and tells her she can stop at theirs, causing Keanu and Sharon to argue. Sharon then looks at Lisa's phone and discovers that Lisa has a gambling addiction and that was why she blackmailed Keanu. Sharon agrees to get Peggy back for Lisa if she tells Keanu the truth and allows him access to Peggy. Sharon tells Phil about Lisa's gambling addiction and convinces Phil to give Peggy back to Lisa and pay for her to get back home in Portugal. Lisa talks to Keanu and tells him the truth; also telling Keanu she will speak to Louise about him having access to Peggy, however Keanu is furious when he discovers that they are planning on only letting him have video calls to Peggy and as a result Keanu steals Lisa and Peggy's passports to prevent Lisa taking his daughter out of the country.
Keanu later seeks legal advice from Eve Unwin about keeping Peggy. When Keanu gets back to the flat he discovers that Sharon has found the passports he has hidden. Keanu thinks that he has convinced Sharon to keep quiet but Sharon later betrays Keanu and gives Lisa the passports. Keanu spots Lisa leaving in a taxi with Peggy and chases after it - with no luck. He falls to his knees and breaks down in the middle of the street - being consoled by Sharon. Keanu is particularly devastated as he discovers Lisa could have been kept in the country if he had an arrangement made by the courts to have access to Peggy. When Keanu finds out Sharon gave Lisa the passports back, he breaks up with her.
As of September 2024, Peggy is nearly 5 years old and is in nursery.

Background information
- At some point between 2020 to 2023, Peggy's surname was changed to Mitchell after originally being Taylor. This was because Louise didn't want Keanu to have anything to do with Peggy.
