Oscar Branning is the son of Max Branning and Tanya Branning and was born in the house of the Branning Family where his mother, father and older sisters Lauren Branning and Abi Branning live. Oscar was named by his sister Abi.
Biography
Oscar is delivered by his father, Max, because it was too late for Tanya to go to hospital. The midwife is not present, so Max has to follow her instructions over the phone. Oscar is named by his sister, Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald), although Max is not keen with the name. Tanya later asks Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) to be Oscar's godmother and she accepts.
In March 2008, it is revealed that every time Tanya looks at Oscar, it reminds her of when Max had an affair with Stacey Branning. In December 2009, Tanya moves out with Oscar and his eldest sister, Lauren after discovering that Max has been hiding his financial problems.
In January 2011, Tanya moves back to the square with Oscar and her new fiancé, Greg Jessop and rents Roxy Mitchell's (Rita Simons) house. At Tanya and Greg's wedding in April 2011, he walks down the aisle with his mother.
Whilst in the care of Tanya's mother, Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell), Oscar suffers a fall whilst playing, but only suffers minor injuries. In September 2012, he starts Walford Primary School and becomes friends with Dennis Rickman Jnr as Tanya and Dennis's mother, Sharon (Letitia Dean) feud. After Sharon and Tanya later become friends, Dennis befriends Oscar.
In June 2013, Oscar leaves Walford along with his Tanya and Lauren (now portrayed by Jacqueline Jossa) to move to Exeter where Lauren can attend an alcoholic rehabilitation centre.
Lauren returns to Walford in August 2013 and reveals that Tanya and Oscar are not going to be returning.
Oscar returns on April 8, 2014 when Tanya allows him to stay with Max whilst she is on a night out in London. Abi collects him and brings him to Max in the café as a surprise and Lauren and Abi take him bowling, but Max pulls out and chooses to meet up with his secret lover, Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater).
On May 5th, Oscar visits again, a few weeks after Lucy's murder, and plays with Abi and her boyfriend, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick). Lauren, who was Lucy's friend, is upset by this and is angry that everyone is carrying on as normal and ignoring the fact that Lucy is dead.
In February 2015, Oscar returns for Jane's wedding and when Tanya announces that she is taking part in a fashion course in Manchester, she allows him to stay with Max for a while as it is unfair that he would have been receiving lack of attention due to Tanya's commitment to the course.
Max is arrested and falsely charged with the murder of Lucy in July 2015 and Oscar returns to live with Tanya, who denies Max any access to his son.,
