Ollie Walters is portrayed by Tony O'Callaghan. He was the husband of Jean Walters. His first stint lasted from 2013 to 2016, and he was later reintroduced for a guest stint in June 2018, following Jean's return earlier in the year.


Storylines[]

Ollie first shows up at the local allotments and hears Jean Slater discussing what vegetables she desires to grow. He introduces himself to her and offers her guidance, saying he will watch out for her. The following time they meet, he disturbs her since she is overwhelmed by his incessant talking. He apologises through a note on a fork. They meet again at a speed dating occasion, and she agrees to see him once more. They go out on a date, however when he says he is a cop, Jean worries as she has broken the law. He says he couldn't care less about that and they kiss. Afterwards, she worries that he will be put off by her bipolar, so doesn't tell him. She eventually tells when he thinks she is acting unusually, yet she leaves before he can talk. He reserches the condition and tells Jean he wants to keep on seeing her. However, when she cleans instead to preparing to go out, he says they can go out one more evening and she thinks he is terrified of her bipolar and thinks their relationship is finished.

He returns a couple of days, he tells Kat Slater that he committed an error, yet she cautions him to remain away. When Jean's friend Shirley Carter plans to leave, she encourages Jean to make up with Ollie. Jean finds that Ollie has given up his plot at the allotments. She finds he is retiring to Brighton however is hosting a get-together first, so she chooses to go, yet leaves without seeing Ollie when his friend Frank ridicules her dysfunctional behavior. The following day, she misses Ollie and is shocked when he shows up to bid farewell. He says that he cherishes her and she agrees to come to Brighton with him, yet Kat persuades Jean to stay. Nonetheless, when Kat understands that Jean loves Ollie, she enrolls Alfie Moon's assistance to track Ollie down, yet they dread they are too late. Ollie finds Jean at the allotments, saying he has cancelled his relocation so he can remain with her, however she says he can't remain only for her. They announce their love for each other, and leave for Brighton along with Kat's blessing.

When Stacey Slater admits to killing Archie Mitchell and is sentenced to five years in jail, her daughter Lily Slater goes to live with Jean and Ollie. After five months, Jean and Lily show up at Kat and Alfie's home, and Jean says she and Ollie have separated. Jean attepts suicide, after which Ollie visits her in hospital and says they have not separated and is upset that that Jean didn't alert him about her concerns. After one year, Jean returns to Walford and reveals to Stacey that Ollie has proposed to her and that they are getting married. Ollie shows up in Walford the following day, yet Jean is upset so Ollie promptly returns her to Brighton. Ollie and Jean then get married.

When Jean and Ollie visit Walford in December, Stacey tells Jean she is being followed. Ollie uncovers somebody visited Jean back in Brighton and when Stacey asks Jean who this stalker is, it arises that Stacey's dad, Brian, sceretly had another family, and Stacey finds the man following her is truly her stepbrother Kyle Slater. Ollie is stunned concerning why Jean didn't tell him, and Jean says that she needed to forget it and to begin afresh. Jean and Ollie return later to meet Stacey's child Arthur Fowler. Stacey is hospitalized after being sectioned with postpartum psychosis so Jean and Ollie stay in a hotel close by in the event that Stacey needs them. They then return to Brighton.

In December 2017, Stacey leaves Walford with her kids to stay with Jean and Ollie for half a month, after confessing to cheating on Martin with Max Branning. When Jean returns to Walford in March 2018, Kat inquires as to why Jean is trying not to go back. Jean confesses that Ollie has harmed her. Kat and Stacey welcome Ollie to Walford yet he denies hitting her. Jean says that Ollie kissed a lady, Elsie, which is the reason she left, yet she actually loves Ollie and needs to return home with him. Ollie unintentionally calls her Elsie so she realises he has been cheating on her. Jean then requests that Ollie leaves after returning her wedding ring, and she later files for divorce.

Information[]

The character and O'Callaghan's casting were announced on 13 June 2013, when it was revealed that Ollie is a gardening enthusiast and a love interest for Jean after she gets her own allotment. O'Callaghan said of his casting, "I am very excited to be joining a show with as much prestige as EastEnders and I'm looking forward to portraying the nice side and humour of Ollie. On 3 June 2014, it was confirmed that O'Callaghan had agreed to reprise his role as Ollie, for a short stint, along with his former co-star, Gillian Wright, who plays his on-screen girlfriend, Jean Slater.
