Doctor Nina Gupta (legally Gulati) made her first appearance on 10 February 2022. She is portrayed by Hersha Verity. She is the widow of Ranveer Gulati, former stepmother and partner of Ravi Gulati and former step grandmother to Davinder Gulati.
Backstory[]
Prior to her arrival on Albert Square, Nina attended medical school for seven years and earned a medical degree, she later became a doctor, however she wanted to be a dermatologist for the first five years of her career. At some point, she met Ranveer Gulati and began dating him. In 2022 he proposed to her, and Nina accepted. After this Nina begins to be a home doctor to the Panesar Family.
Storylines[]
2022: Plotting against Ranveer and Suki, romance with Ravi and exit[]
Nina is a doctor who makes a house visit to see Kheerat Panesar after he had a bad stomach from bad mayonnaise in a sandwich he bought at Stacey's Baps.
She later re-appears when Stacey Slater convinces Jean Slater to go to a doctor's appointment about her bipolar disorder, however Jean refuses to let her help, saying she is fine.
Suki Panesar buys a GP practice, she hires Dr. Nina Gupta and Ash Panesar to run it. In June 2022, Nina helps Ash with her training to qualify as a GP before the opening of the surgery.
Nina attends the opening day with Suki, Ranveer, Ash, Eve Unwin, Vi Highway and Karen Taylor. A week later. She double checks Suki is available for a meeting with Ranveer later that day, however Suki is unaware of it but plays along.
On 22 August 2022, Stuart Highway locks Nina, Ash, Sarah, Bernadette Taylor and everyone else in the surgery after he believes his prescriptions aren't working. Stuart is convinced to let them all go when Rainie Highway comes knocking at the door. After it is over, Nina calls the police on Stuart.
Nina's husband, Ranveer, later attempts to Rape Suki, but is unsuccessful and Killed by Ravi Gulati. Ravi disposed of his body, and Ranveer is not seen for months. The murder and attempted rape has an effect on Suki, and Nina examines her at home and later at the Surgery after she's found sleep walking. When Kheerat has suspicious that Ranveer is missing, Nina dismisses hun, saying Ranveer often runs off for months without contact, saying he can be very secretive at times and that Kheerat should know that. Nina is able to put Kheerat's mind to rest by saying that she's married to him and she isn't worried. It is later revealed that Nina has been planning to murder Ranveer with Ravi Gulati for a long time, and Ravi killed him too early. Ravi attempts to calm Nina down by saying that if their plan gets exposed it falls on Suki, but says it won’t come to that. Ravi invites Nina to attend his son, Davinder Gulati's birthday party to help keep suspicions low. Nina asks if he will tell them who he really is at the party, but he says no.
The two later attempt to frame Suki Panesar, however Ravi chooses his family over Nina, working with the Panesar family to stop her and to get a USB stick with footage of Suki hitting Ranveer with a clock. Ash and Nina have a fight in the surgery, and Ash is able to prevent Nina from leaving, long enough for Ravi, Nish and Kheerat to get there and take the USB. Kheerat later took to blame for the murder. After this, Nina Fled Walford, it's unknown if she or Ravi inherited any of Ranveer's assets

Background information[]
- Despite being a recurring character, Nina was credited as a regular. The same treatment also happened with Ranveer Gulati, Samantha Keeble and Theo Hawthorne.
- Nina's exit was originally going to be much different. Little is known about how it would play out, however a fire at The Panesar House Surgery was filmed. For more information, please see List of abandoned EastEnders storylines.
