2018-2019: Introduction to EastEnders[]

Mitch2018

Mitch arrives.

Mitch suddenly turns on the Square, to the surprise of the Taylor family. He and Karen quickly sleep together but the whole family is against him, especially Keegan's older brother Keanu who is furious that his mother would even go anywhere near Mitch. Keanu believes he is only in it because he wants something and warns Keegan off him. After a while, the family begin to except him. All apart from Keanu and his suspicions become correct when Ted Murray's PTSD is inflamed when he realizes that he will never be able to raise enough money to travel to Australia to patch things up with his son before it's too late. Ted's best friend Patrick Trueman wins a bet on the horse races, and posts it through the door which the Taylors share with the Murrays and when Mitch spots the money, he takes it and flees without even saying goodbye to Keegan or Karen.

In December 2018, he and Kandice Taylor turn up at Karen's house. Kandice sneaks him into the bathroom, and Karen walks in. She is furious, however Kandice eventually tells her that Mitch was just trying to fit a new bathroom.

On 10 January 2019, Karen calls in a favour from Mitch, who arrives to fix the bathroom. But he also has a companion with him, who is eventually revealed to be his daughter, Bailey Baker. Mitch leaves her in his van, until a drug addict named Craig breaks in, seeing an opportunity to steal. Bailey hits him in self-defence. Mitch sees the altercation and hurriedly gets rid of Craig and leaves Bailey to play with a football outside the Queen Victoria pub. Mick Carter sees Bailey sitting with the ball on the street and when she says it is boring on her own, he says he used to spend hours kicking a ball against a wall. Bailey decides to kick the ball against the wall of Mick's pub, The Queen Victoria, but she smashes an upstairs window. Mick, his wife, Linda Carter, Mitch, Keegan and Karen all arrive but when Karen tells Bailey to leave, Mitch is forced to say she is with him.

Mitch tells Karen that Bailey is his friend's daughter, and takes Bailey to a football training session. However, after Karen looks after Bailey, Bailey asks Mitch why she is not allowed to tell people that he is her father.

When Bailey returns home from a football game, she is shown to be a young carer for her mother, Dinah Wilson, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis. When the Taylor family find out, they pledge to help out, and encourage Bailey to seek help from a care organisation. When Dinah commits suicide, Bailey moves in with Karen and her children. Bailey overhears a conversation between Karen and Mitch, where she discovers that Karen knew Dinah was going to kill herself. She holds a grudge against Karen for a number of weeks, until Karen buys her a star in honour of her mother.

Mitch's daughter Chantelle Atkins arrives in Walford as a hairdresser, who Kim Fox contacts to work as a new hairdresser in her and her sister Denise Fox's new salon. During celebratory drinks in The Queen Victoria public house, Chantelle bumps into her father Mitch, who she has not seen for a long time. Chantelle later meets her mother Karen Taylor and reconnects with her family.

2020 to present: The death of Chantelle and new arrivals[]

After Chantelle is fatally murdered by her abusive husband, Gray Atkins in September 2020, Mitch is distraught as he has only just connected with her again. He maintains an on-off relationship with Karen during 2020 and 2021, and they often step in to look after their grandchildren and Chantelle's kids, Mia and Mackenzie Atkins.

In 2022, nearly two years after Chantelle was killed, it was finally revealed to Mitch and his family that Gray killed Chantelle, as well as Tina Carter and Kush Kazemi. Mitch goes after Gray, and Gray is later arrested after a showdown with Mitch, as well as Chantelle's close friend Whitney Dean.
