
Michael French (born Michael Clark; 17th September 1962 in Bow, London) is an English actor who portrayed David Wicks in EastEnders from December 1993 to November 1996, before returning between January 2012 and May 2014 and briefly in October 2024.
He trained at the Mountview Theatre School and graduated in 1992. Playing David in EastEnders was French's first acting role in television. After leaving the soap for the first time in 1996, he went on to appear in Crime Traveller as Detective Jeff Slade. From 2002 to 2004, he played Dr Tom Gilder in Born and Bred.
His other most notable role aside from EastEnders is as Nick Jordan in Holby City a role he remained in from 1999 to 2000, 2005 to 2006 and in 2010 to 2013.
In 2012, he returned to his role of David for a few episodes only brought back for the departing storyline of Pat Wicks his onscreen mother. In September 2013 he returned as a full-time character before leaving again in May 2014.
