Mia Atkins is the daughter of Gray Atkins and Chantelle Atkins. She is the sister of Mackenzie and half-sister of Jordan Atkins. She is also the granddaughter of Karen Taylor, Mitch Baker and Alex Atkins as well as the niece of Keanu, Riley, Chatham, Bailey, Bernadette and Keegan. She made her first appearance on 12 April 2019 . She is portrayed by Mahalia Malcolm.
Backstory[]
Mia was born to Gray and Chantelle in 2012. In 2019, her, her brother and her parents moved to Walford.
Storylines[]
Mia Atkins moved to Walford in April 2019, with her parents Gray and Chantelle, and her brother Mackenzie, so they can be closer to her family and for her mother to work at hair salon, Fox & Hair. In 2020, Chantelle is killed by Gray after being pushed onto a set of knives during a heated argument in which Chantelle was planning to leave Gray due to him abusing her for years. Gray covers up the murder to make it look like an accident, later in the year Gray almost kills himself, along with Mackenzie and Mia.
In 2021, Mia has a new step-mum, Chelsea Atkins. When Mia tries to fit into her dress for a birthday party, she discovers it’s too small. Chelsea takes her to buy a new one after she let Mia play on the Playground while she wished Libby Fox a happy birthday. After this, Mia has a tantrum in the Market as she doesn’t want a new dress as her Mum brought her this one, and Whitney Dean offers to let out her dress for free. In December, Chelsea gives birth to her half-brother, Jordan Atkins.
In 2022, Gray is arrested for his crimes, so Mia and her brother are placed in the care of their Grandparents, Mitch Baker and Karen Taylor while Jordan remains with Chelsea. After their father’s arrest, the kids begin to get picked on at school, but Chelsea helps them realise not everyone hates them and that everyone will move on soon.
When Mia and Mackenzie’s uncle, Avery Baker, arrives, he buys the tow food and bonds with them. The two attend his Caribbean party at the laundrette, however he passes away at it. Bernadette Taylor takes the two and their aunt, Bailey Baker, home. The two attend his street party, and later his funeral. The two are later seen at Albie Watts christening on 1 May 2023.
On 13 June 2023 Mackenzie tells Mitch and Chelsea that school have asked him to write a fathers day card. Mackenzie tells them he doesnt want to write Gray a letter. Mitch later reveals to Chelsea that Gray has written a letter to him demanding to see his kids, Mitch tells Chelsea he is going to tell Karen about the letter. Mitch asks if Chelsea she is going to let Gray see Jordan, Chelsea tells Mitch that she isn't letting "that psychopath" anywhere near Jordan.
On 17 August 2023, Mia, Along with Mackenzie and Bailey, attend Bernadette Taylor’s birthday party at The Prince Albert. On 6 September 2023, Mia begins Walford High School. Her and Lexi Pearce leave together and meet Amy Mitchell on the way.
Phil Mitchell gets suspicious when he sees Karen spending money in the Vic, when Karen gives Kat Mitchell £2,000 to pay for damage to a car that Mitch accidentally crashed into. Phil checks the money and notices it is his marked notes that he gave to Sharon Watts to pay off Albie Watts' kidnapper, Phil is convinced that the Taylor's kidnapped Albie and he asks Sam Mitchell to find proof, Sam later finds a picture on Karen's brother-in-law's social media with Albie from the day after he was kidnapped. Phil gains further proof when he sends Tommy around to Karen's and he finds Phil's money under her bed, before Tommy can take the money back he is interrupted by Felix, Tommy takes a couple of the notes and gives them to Phil. Phil then goes to the Vic and confronts all the Taylor's and reveals the true circumstances behind Albie's kidnap infront of Sharon. Karen admits to being behind the kidnap and takes the blame for it to protect Keanu, Sharon slaps Karen and threatens to call the police on her. However, Keanu begs her not to insisting that despite what she's done she's still his mother, Phil angrily confonts Keanu and demands to know if he was involved in the kidnap and Keanu swears that he wasn't. Phil then storms over to the Taylor's and smashes their door down, Phil demands his money back from Karen. Karen grabs a baseball bat and they tell Phil that their kids are here. Phil then tells them kids or no kids he will be coming back for his money, Keanu goes to the Taylors t say sorry but they are all disgusted that Keanu let Karen to take the blame, Karen later tells Mitch she's going to take Phil's money and leave Walford, Karen asks Mitch to leave with her.Mitch is initially hesitant to go but after Tom Cotton and Harvey Monroe make Mitch realise that he still loves Karen, Mitch goes back to the house and kisses Karen. Karen, Mitch, Bailey, Mackenzie and Mia all leave Walford, however Bernadette decides to stay and tells Keanu that he is dead to her.
