Hi, I remember the original broadcasts of them, but I am after 2 particular scenes in 1992 episodes. Not sure if the reruns on Drama have reached them yet. I would like to know which episodes these 2 scenes were broadcast?
The first scene is where Arthur Fowler shouts at someone who is offering him a leaflet. Arthur then shouts "I dont want that flaming leaflet". The 2nd scene is where Pauline and Mark are talking and he asks her for a few more days over something. She says "I have given you 24 years already" then agrees to give him a few more days. Cannot remember what the "few days" was about. Mark then rides off on his motorbike shortly later in the ep. Benny1982 (talk) 14:42, January 4, 2020 (UTC)
I'm afraid I have no clue what episodes these are from; I did not watch EastEnders until long after 1992 and I do not watch the reruns. You might have more luck asking Optimuskryme about this - I believe he watches reruns of episodes.
Hey again. This is just a question I have out of cusiosity. Why does this Wiki have a preference for promotional images rather than screenshots for character infoboxes?
By no means does this mean I have a problem with the promotional images. Quite the opposite actually, I think most of them are great. For example, the promo image of Angie Watts (one of my favourite EE characters!) is the BEST image of her for the infobox, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I am just curious as most of the other soap wikis (e.g. Emmerdale and Coronation Street) prefer to use screenshots rather than character images, whereas this Wiki is the opposite and I have always been curious as to why that is. Did the majority of users here prefer the promo images over screenshots, or is there another reason?
Technically promotional images are not meant to be used on any Wiki, however I think over time our Wiki has gradually collected these images. I've never thought it's worth the effort to go through them all and change them to screenshots unless the BBC or Fandom get in contact with us. It might be worth looking at changing current character's images to screenshots, however to do so for former characters may be incredibly difficult.
I'll message Kelvin about this to see what he thinks.
Some of the former characters (e.g. Angie Watts) have screenshots on their respective "List of apperances" pages which can be used, should you and Kelvin decide to replace the promo images with screenshots.
Would it be possible if the "List of current characters" page could have its protection removed? That way more editors could help edit it and it'd be more up to date. One thing I reccomend for that page is having a picture of each of the current characters, which the Corrie and Emmerdale Wikis have for their current cast.
This Wiki has two categories for characters currently in the show, those being "Current Characters" and "Present Characters". I feel like we should only have one of them as there's no point having two categories which cover the same thing.
We had the current characters page unlocked before, and everytime a character went on a short break or a character got married and therefore their name changed there was a massive edit war, with numerous people arguing over whether a character should stay on the list, whether their name should be edited etc. therefore I think it is best that it remains protected, however I will look into potentially adding images to the page. It will require quite a lot of cropping I expect therefore might take a while but I will have a look.
And yeah, I agree with you on your second point there, I will remove the Present Characters category.
Just to let you know we are continuously working on improvements to this site and just want to update you on our progress for episode page. You no longer have to add to the below fields:
When an episode number is added to the infobox it automatically pulls this information from a template saving editors from having to add the information in manually. We will also be looking at introducing more fields to save you and fellow editors time.
