Matthew Baylis (born 1971 in Nottingham) was a storyliner on EastEnders from 1998 to 1999.

He is an experienced novelist, screenwriter and journalist and was educated at the Merchant Taylors' School in Crosby and Trinity College in Cambridge. He travelled with former EastEnders executive producer Matthew Robinson to Kenya to co-create, co-storyline and trained a team of writers for a six-part drama pilot. Robinson also invited him to Cambodia to do the same on Taste of Life, a major Cambodian drama series.

He was responsible for the two comic novels Stranger than Fulham and The Last Ealing Comedy. He has also written A Death At the Palace, Man Belong Mrs Queen and The Tottenham Outrage
