Marie Evans is a waitress at the local café played by Liz Sweet. Marie has worked at the café from 2001 and seems to have a good relationship with most, if not all her colleagues. Marie is one of the longest serving extras, alongside Winston and Tracey. She first appears in 2000 as she is seen at the café with market stall holder Maggs and another man.

In 2008, Marie takes maternity leave due to her pregnancy, she later returns after giving birth to a son and taking over from her cover worker, Cheryl.
On 28 July 2008, Dawn Swann asks Marie if she's seen Jase Dyer, and she points her to him at the table he's sitting at.
On 9 September 2008, She says bye to Bianca Jackson when she's leaving. On 11 September Jane asks her to cover while she checks on Ian.
2010's[]
On 9 March 2010, Marie shows Jane Beale and Bianca Butcher pictures of her son, who is now nearly 2 years old.
Marie joins the book club in 2010, following Tanya Branning's departure and Jane's holiday to America.
At one point, her employer Ian Beale steals a home video of her giving birth to put his daughter Lucy Beale off having a baby. It's unknown if she is aware of this.
One of Marie's few speaking roles was in 2016, when Tina Carter needs to leave the café and asks her to cover for her for the rest of the shift.
In February 2017, Ian Beale mentions Marie is looking for a cat and tells Dot Cotton she could take Dave off her hands, but Dot says no. In April, Marie’s car breaks down on the way back from Kent, so she’s unable to cover for Tina. Because of this, Michelle Fowler steps in. Later in April, Tina asks Marie to spare some money from the till to help fund Lady Di’s surgery, however she says she can’t without Kathy being there to approve. In May, she attends a meeting about saving the community centre.

2020's[]
When Kim Fox tried to get a free coffee by saying Kathy Beale told her she could have it for free, Marie told her she still had to pay as she wasn't told.
On 18 April 2022, Marie was unable to go to work as she had a migraine.
On 2 June 2022, Marie met Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall with Shrimpy and Winston when they visited the square for the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations. On 1 November 2023, Marie goes to the Vic to show her support for landlady Linda Carter after her rapist, Dean Wicks returns. On Christmas Day 2023, Marie attends Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor's wedding.
