Marc Elliott (born 19 October 1979) is a British actor from Stratford-upon-Avon, who is best known for his role as Syed Masood in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Acting career[]
He has appeared on TV in Holby City and The Bill. Prior to 2009, his background had been mainly theatrical. In 2009, he was cast as Syed Masood in the BBC soap opera, EastEnders and he won the 2010 British Soap Award for Best Newcomer for this role. Since being cast as Syed, one of Elliott's storylines has included a gay affair with Christian Clarke. Elliott has said that this is an "incredibly important part" because "In so many cultures being gay is still something swept under the carpet." He has admitted that the storyline has caused a lot of "cat-calling" when he is seen in public and there is a "huge amount of negativity." In September 2012, he announced he is to leave the soap in November. Marc appeared in a number of productions at Stratford-upon-avon's Royal Shakespeare Theatre while studying at Warwick School.
