Liane Aukin (born 17th August 1936 in London, died 18th August 2016) wrote 20 episodes of EastEnders between July 1985 and July 1996. She also wrote the television screenplay The Mushroom Picker in 1993 and one episode of the Minder and Gems.
Before Liane took up writing, she was a very successful actress and had roles in The Wanderer, The Strange World of Gurney Slade, Saturday Playhouse, The Dobson Fund, International Detective, No Hiding Place, Storyboard, The Problem of Mary Winshaw, The Phantom of the Opera, Top Secret, 24-Hour Call, Moonstrike, Sergeant Cork, ITV Play of the Week and Out of the Unknown.
In her later life, she qualified as a psychotherapist and was in private practice in London. She was married to Robin Midgley from 1965 to 1971 and they had two children together.
