Joseph Kpobie appeared as Juley Smith on EastEnders from July 2002 to July 2006. He was subsequently axed from the role in early 2005 for a short while when the character of Juley was reprimanded for being too stereotypical. He was brought back into the show in September of 2005 and was involved in his first big storyline when his character got involved in a romance with a much younger girl but since the end of the storyline, he was rarely involved in any others and therefore became a background character. Almost a year after returning, Kpobie had left the show again after a mutual decision was made with the producers that his character had reached a natural end.
One of his first roles in television was in the popular children's television series Grange Hill as Mick Daniels from 1992 to 1993. Two years later, he landed the part of Otis in An Independent Man and Darren Matthews in A Touch of Frost. Before landing the role of Juley in EastEnders, he appeared in Mr Charity and Buried. After leaving EastEnders, Joseph has had roles in The Bill and Capital.
