John Yorke is a British television producer. He took on Executive Producer for EastEnders from 2000 until 2002 and returned to the soap temporally in 2017 after Sean O'Connor was axed as executive producer and Yorke was named as an interim executive producer.
His first credited episode as Executive Producer was Episode 1936 (17 April 2000).
During his time there, he was given the task of introducing the soap's fourth weekly episode and managed a win over long running rival Coronation Street in a rare head-to-head showdown. He axed the majority of the Di Marco family and helped introduce popular characters such as the Slater family. He handed over to Louise Berridge in 2002.
In June 2017, after Sean O'Connor was axed as executive producer of EastEnders', John Yorke was named as the interim executive producer with his role immediately coming into effect. His first credited episode as Executive Consultant was Episode 5605 (27 November 2017). As Yorke's tenure was only temporary, he was responsible for finding the next permanent executive producer for EastEnders.
He announced in December 2017 that he was signed on until December 2018. John Yorke was succeeded by new senior executive producer Kate Oates in February 2019
