Josephine "Jo" Cotton is the estranged wife of Tom Cotton. She made her first appearance on 29 March 2023 and last on 20 July 2023. She was portrayed by Vicki Michelle.

Backstory[]

Jo and Tom Cotton were married over twenty five years ago, however Tom never really talks about her. The one time Tom did mention Jo however, he described her as only being his fiancée, and that they were never happy together, and when they got engaged things only went from bad to worse. One day, Jo said they should have a baby, with Tom disagreeing, saying they should talk about it later. Tom left the house and never went back.

Storylines[]

When Kathy Beale begins planning her and Tom's wedding, Tom is hesitant to do so and reveals to Sonia Fowler it's because he's already married. Sonia, Reiss Colwell and Tom agree to try and track her down so Tom can divorce and marry Kathy. However, When Sonia and Reiss are unable to do so, Tom admits everything to Kathy, who calls off the wedding. Unbeknownst to Tom, Freddie Slater found Jo and got her to come see Kathy, and when Freddie is writing "Toser" on to a car at Tom's car lot on behalf of Bobby Beale, Tom sees Jo arrive at Kathy's doorstep. Jo introduces herself and asks if her husband is home.
