The Italian Republic or simply Italy is a country in Southern Europe. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, it consists of a peninsula delimited by the Alps and is surrounded by several islands. It is bordered to the north by France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. Italy also surrounds the landlocked countries of San Marino and Vatican City. The capital is Rome, the country has a Population of 59.11 million people, Italy exists in the EastEnders universe with many characters who have lived visited or are from there. There have been storylines in Italy for instance in 1997 Ian Beale's wife Cindy fled to Italy taking her sons with them. Ian with the help of Phil and Grant Mitchell Eventually tracked Cindy down and returned to Walford with his children.
