Harry was born in 1918 in Walford and grew up at 29 Albert Square. Aged 15 he fell in love with Doris Medeemey and they planned to marry. But in 1939 he was conscripted into the Army at the outbreak of World War II. Harry was later presumed dead after losing contact with Doris and when he returned after the war he found that she had wed a man called Morris Miller. Harry was a good friend of William Skinner, the husband of Ethel Skinner. They worked together on the docks. According to Ethel he accidentally killed a 9 year old local girl with some cheap meat, and disappeared to the Caribbean soon after.
In January 1990 72 year old Harry began hanging around Albert Square. He attended the christening of Steven Beale and became friends with Rod Norman. Harry said to Rod how he grew up at 29 Albert Square and used to date Lou Beale's sister Doris Medeemey and wanted to marry her. Harry was served by Ian Beale at his cafe. One night in February 1990, Harry was chatting to Rod in the square gardens. They were distracted by the screeching of a Jaguar roaring into the square, driven by Phil Mitchell. When Rod left, Harry died peacefully in the gardens alone. Ethel Skinner and Dot saw his lifeless body sat up on the bench and Ethel knew who he was, and said he was Harry Osborne. An ambulance was called, and Harry was officially declared dead.
