Gates made his first appearance on 14 September 1999 and last on 16 September 1999. He was portrayed by Steve Swinscoe.
Storylines[]
Gates is a prisoner at HMP Woodhurst, who with another inmate, harasses and threatens Matthew Rose during his time in prison. When they are clear of any prison wardens, they subject Matthew to a beating in his cell. This is until Steve Owen intervenes and forces the pair out.
