Garry Rawlings is a market stallholder. He made his first appearance on 14 March 1996 and last on 11 April 1996. He was portrayed by Mark Burdis.
Storylines[]
Garry used to work in Peter Street until it closed for redevelopment in March 1996. He relocates to Bridge Street Market, setting up a rival fruit and veg stall to Mark Fowler. He begins a price war, threatens the other market traders and arranges for youths to deliberately damage their stock. The market traders attempt to stand their ground, but discover that Garry's pitch is permanent and that there's nothing they can legally do to get him off the market.
He is eventually tricked into leaving Walford by the Market Inspector, Michael Rose, when he offers him a contract for a pitch at an all-day market in Essex. Garry accepts the contract as the private market has good pitches and appears to be very profitable; although, he is unaware that the council are due to demolish it when they when build a bypass for it next year.
