BBC One will be celebrating EastEnders on Monday and Tuesday nights enabling viewers to continue to get their Walford fix when the show goes on an inevitable break due to filming being postponed.

On Monday nights fans will get a unique chance to look behind the curtains of EastEnders and gain insight from the cast on what it’s like to play their iconic characters when EastEnders: Secrets From The Square premieres on Monday 22 June. On Tuesday nights, viewers will have the chance to continue to reminisce and relive some of the unforgettable moments from the past as BBC One shows a selection of iconic episodes including the classic two hander between Den and Angie, Sharongate and the explosive reveal of Max and Stacey’s affair to name just a few.

EastEnders: Secrets From The Square will be hosted by Stacey Dooley who will sit down each week in Ian Beale’s restaurant, Walford East, with two different members of the cast to reflect on their time on the show, tease what’s to come when EastEnders returns as well as the occasional sneak peek behind the scenes.

Legends of the Square including Letitia Dean, Adam Woodyatt, Diane Parish, Tameka Empson, Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright to name just a few, will be looking back to their first memories of the show, the juiciest dramas to hit Walford and telling stories from behind-the-scenes.

In the past year Stacey Dooley has hosted BBC’s Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make Up Star and The One Show, now taking on the role of host on EastEnders: Secrets From The Square, Stacey says: “I’m delighted to be hosting Secrets From The Square. I grew up watching EastEnders, so walking on to Albert Square was a surreal experience as well as taking a trip down memory lane and interviewing some of the legends of Walford has been great, I’ve loved every minute of it!”

Kate Phillips, Controller of BBC Entertainment, says: “EastEnders has been at the heart of BBC One since its inception 35 years ago. While going off air was never in their plan, we and the EastEnders team knew straight away that this would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate the show, look back on cherished memories of all those momentous episodes whilst taking a look around Albert Square and they may just give us some teasers as to what’s to come when they return.”

Suzy Lamb, Managing Director, Entertainment & Music, BBC Studios, adds: “I’ve always been a fan of EastEnders and have been keen to collaborate with the team there. I’m delighted that the Entertainment Department have this special opportunity to work with the cast and production team. Together we’ve developed a new format, exploring the wonderful characters and great moments from the last 35 years. With Stacey Dooley guiding us through, I know this will be a fun and revealing look back and forward at the residents of Albert Square.”

Speaking about the array of EastEnders content, Jon Sen, Executive Producer, EastEnders, says: “Although the drama from Albert Square will be off our screens for a short time, we are thrilled that fans will have a unique opportunity to see from the cast themselves just what it is like to be part of EastEnders when they see Secrets From The Square. As the cast look back - as well as forward - we can relive some of their most memorable moments and to add a selection of iconic episodes into the mix means viewers will be able to get their regular Walford fix until the drama returns.”

EastEnders: Secrets From The Square is a BBC Studios production commissioned by Kate Phillips, Controller of Entertainment and Rachel Ashdown, Commissioning Editor for BBC One. Caroline Wright will be Executive Producer for BBC Studios Entertainment alongside Liza Mellody Consultant Executive for EastEnders.

EastEnders: Secrets From The Square will continue weekly on Monday nights at 8.00pm on BBC One Further contributors for EastEnders: Secrets From the Square will be announced in due course Social distancing guidelines will be strictly adhered to EastEnders will be returning to filming at the end of June 2020

Episodes[]

Episode 1 - Mick and Linda[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by some of Walford's biggest stars to relive their characters' most iconic moments, share behind-the-scenes stories and reveal stuff that is normally kept under wraps. She begins by catching up with Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright - Mick Carter and Linda Carter - who talk about an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction and give Stacey a tour of the Queen Vic. Danny also shares his best `doof doof' face, and reveals which EastEnders legend sent him a special note before he took over the pub.


Episode 2 - Ian and Sharon[]

Stacey Dooley sits down for a chat with two of EastEnders' original cast members - Adam Woodyatt and Letitia Dean - AKA Ian Beale and Sharon Watts, who reflect on their careers. The pair reminisce about starting on the show together as teenagers, revisit classic scenes - and classic hair-dos - and share their best backstage stories. They also tease just what's in store for Ian and Sharon when the show returns.


Episode 3 - Martin and Kush[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by James Bye and Davood Ghadami, aka market regulars Martin Fowler and Kush Kazemi, who talk about their time working on the soap. The pair look back at their earliest scenes and biggest storylines yet - from a dramatic love triangle with Stacey Slater and the Kazemi family's hard-hitting brush with knife crime, as well as Martin's more recent journey to Albert Square bad boy.


Episode 4 - Ben and Callum[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Max Bowden and Tony Clay to talk all things Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway - better known to fans as Ballum - with the pair reflecting on classic scenes and sharing their best backstage stories. The programme also delves into the EastEnders archives for a look at the pioneering LGBTQ+ characters that paved the way, from Colin and Barry to Binnie Roberts and Della Alexander and Christian Clarke and Syed Masood.


Episode 5 - Denise and Kim[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Diane Parish and Tameka Empson, aka sisters Denise Fox and Kim Fox, for a socially-distanced reunion as Tameka returns to set for the first time since 2019. The pair reveal all about their close working relationship and tell the stories behind some of their biggest moments - from Tameka reliving her infamous live labour scenes for the show's 30th anniversary to Diane explaining why she once had to pretend to all her friends and family that she'd quit the soap.


Episode 6 - Kathy and Ian[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Gillian Taylforth and Adam Woodyatt, aka mother and son Kathy Beale and Ian Beale, who tell all about their unique working relationship and 35-year friendship. They talk about their biggest scenes - from Gillian's nerves while filming Kathy's shock return from the dead to the real reason Adam had to wear a hat throughout Ian's homeless storyline.


Episode 7 - Max and Jack[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Jake Wood and Scott Maslen, aka brothers Max Branning and Jack Branning, who reflect on their time on the Square and look back at the lives and many, many love interests of their characters. Scott tells the story of his cloak and dagger first meeting about joining the show, Stacey shocks them both with a clip of Jake's first-ever appearance in Walford 30 years ago and the pair reminisce about the fateful night of the live 25th anniversary episode of the long-running soap.


Episode 8 - Tiffany, Keegan and Karen[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Maisie Smith, Zack Morris and Lorraine Stanley, aka Tiffany Butcher, Keegan Baker and Karen Taylor, who chat about their biggest storylines and share backstage gossip and secrets from the set. Stacey also finds time to put in a shift at the nation's favourite launderette - where Lorraine lets her in on the inner workings of the machines and reveals what it was like to work with June Brown, aka Dot Branning.


Episode 9 - Landladies Special[]

The legends — who portray queens of Walford Linda Carter and Sharon Watts — will sit down once more with Stacey Dooley, to reminisce about their own characters’ tumultuous and dramatic moments that took place inside The Queen Vic. Additionally, Kellie Bright and Letitia Dean will take a look back at the iconic landladies which came before them — including Angie Watts and Peggy Mitchell.


Episode 10 - Shirley and Tina[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Linda Henry and Luisa Bradshaw-White, aka sisters Shirley Carter and Tina Carter, who talk about their characters' most memorable moments and revealing some of their best behind-the-scenes stories. Linda chats about how fans react to seeing `Shirley' in the street, Luisa recalls her own brush with musical superstardom, and the pair explain how a tender scene quickly became a riot of laughter and chaos every time the cameras cut.


Episode 11 - Karen, Chantelle and Gray[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Lorraine Stanley, Jessica Plummer and Toby-Alexander Smith to relive some of their characters' most iconic moments, share stories and reveal stuff that is normally kept under wraps.

Episode 12 - Whitney and Sonia[]

Natalie Cassidy and Shona McGarty join Stacey Dooley to talk all things Sonia Fowler and Whitney Dean, reliving classic scenes and revealing juicy behind-the-scenes gossip.


Episode 13 - Kat and Stacey[]

Stacey Dooley is joined by Jessie Wallace and Lacey Turner, better known to fans of the show as Kat Slater and Stacey Fowler, for a Slater family reunion. They talk about their characters' most memorable moments, reveal some of their best behind-the-scenes stories and give an idea of what's to come when the soap returns next week.


Episode 14 - Unseen[]

Stacey Dooley presents a compilation of the best unseen moments from her time interviewing Walford’s biggest stars.
