Della and Steve work hard painting and preparing the new salon for opening in the coming days. Grant is relieved to have been let off by the police. Arthur is in a neck brace. Nellie and Pauline cannot help but laugh, before asking Arthur if the car was insured. He claims it is, but his face afterwards tells otherwise. Debbie receives a letter from Liam's solicitor. She tries hiding it from Nigel but he finds it and reads it. Not wanting to lose Clare, Debbie starts to think it may be best for Nigel to move out until the court case is over. Pauline refuses to let Sharon visit Michelle at the hospital. Sharon gets upset and blames Grant. Meena visits Sanjay to stop him from contacting her family over Gita. She makes it clear to him that the family will not tell him where she is. Lee, a friend of Phil's, meets him with a plan to make some quick cash. Nigel does not take Debbie's suggestion of moving out well. Lee tells Phil that he buys written off motors, takes their registration documents, goes shopping for an identical car, and then flogs it for profit. Phil wonders where he comes into the plan. Lee asks him to deal with the VIN plats. Phil wants nothing to do with the plan so Lee tells him he has gone soft and then reminds him he will make more dealing with VIN plates than at the Arches. Sanjay and Meena bicker at the flat. Meena ends up crying, wanting Gita back. Steve leaves Della to carry on decorating the hair salon, but when he phones up to check on her, she is not there. Nellie tells Arthur about a fictional character going to prison because he did not have insurance on his car and crashed it. Arthur panics but puts on a brave face. It is David's birthday. He gets drunk at the Vic and then returns to Number 41. Pat asks him what he has been doing, only to learn he owes £1000 from gambling and is frightened. Steve begs Mark to help him out at the salon with painting. Nigel feels low and rubs Sanjay up the wrong way at the Vic with comments about men and custody of children, leading to a fight. Della finally returns to the hair salon but is intoxicated. Nigel returns to the flat and tells Debbie he will do anything for her and Clare, but will not pretend that he does not exist. He adds that if living with her is good enough for her, then it is also good enough for some judge, and if it is not good enough for her, then she needs to speak up. |
