Summary[]

Arthur and Pauline learn from Mark that he has pulled out of the bid for the market stall because someone else offered Ian more. Frank faces more questions and inconsolably drinks heavily afterwards. Grant notices a graze to Phil's head, and he claims he fell over on his walk home.

Frank and Pat cry over what has happened, as Phil returns to the Arches and covers up his involvement. D.C. Cornwall and D.I. Trent immediately begin an investigation into the cause of the fire. The next morning, the burnt down car lot is the topic of conversation among residents. Phil learns from Kathy that a young vagrant died in the fire.

Arthur and Kathy are unimpressed to learn from Cindy that David and Ian have sold the stall to Tricky Dicky. Cindy is unhappy about the situation too. Arthur heads home and tells Pauline the news - she remembers the £10,000 she has back from when she sold her share of the café to Frank and decides to take some out so that Mark can increase his offer.

Cindy admits to Ian she does not want Tricky Dicky taking over the stall. He has a change of heart and sells the stall to Mark without telling Tricky Dicky first. He is humiliated when he finds out publicly on the market that the stall is no longer his.

Phil visits Frank at Number 41, but Frank cannot face him.

Bianca visits Tricky Dicky again and, as desperate as ever to win him over, tries seducing him; he pushes her away and gives her a stark and final warning.

Arthur wants to celebrate Pauline's birthday but she does not want to do anything. However, there is a present she wants and she asks for it early - a hug. Arthur is delighted and holds her tightly in his arms.

A drunken Frank stumbles over to the car lot and throws a bottle at the charred crime scene.
