Mark receives a letter from Gill's family. Kathy talks to Ian about business help when she takes over the café, but Ian's mind is distracted with Cindy. Pauline starts thinking about Christmas.

Pat speculates with Frank about what Arthur and Mrs. Hewitt may have done together.

Mark opens a letter and finds photographs of Gill.

Pauline lectures Michelle about her poor decisions when she reveals her sudden breakup with Clyde.

Dot needs carol singers for a charity service she wants to do. She tells Frank she will be alone for the Christmas holiday, so he invites her for dinner on Boxing Day.

Pauline heads to the allotments and is left shocked when she finds Mrs. Hewitt's letter to Arthur. She reads it and cries.

Arthur finds Mark upset and listens to him, helping him come to terms with his grief in the process.

Tricky Dicky avoids Rachel whenever possible.

Ian confesses to Kathy that he has seen Cindy again. He tells her that Cindy is living in poverty and needs his help, but Kathy warns him to stay clear of her.

Dot wants Frank to get involved in the carol service, but he tries to get out of it. Pat finds out about Frank's invitation and recommends him for carol singing, much to Dot's delight.

Mandy tells Mark that Kathy is sex mad.

Pauline returns home and waits for Arthur to get back.

Dot offers to let Mandy spend Christmas with her.

Rachel confronts Tricky Dicky over his evasiveness since their one-night stand.

Arthur returns to find Pauline sat down with the letter from Mrs. Hewitt next to her.
