Dot and Ethel get dressed up to go to Evergreen Hotel for a tea-party and dance. Phil escorts them. Mandy helps Sharon out at the Vic and steals a bottle of alcohol in the process.

Hattie sneaks Steve out of Number 27 so that Clyde does not know he stayed the night, although she later learns he spent the night at Michelle's anyway.

Mandy wakes a forlorn Mark.

Nigel makes a banner for the café in preparation for Ethel's anniversary celebrations.

Arthur visits Mark and decides he is going to take him to the Vic later to help him get socialising again.

Dot and Ethel enjoy their time at the Evergreen Hotel. Ethel thinks she is being eyed up by a man, but she is not. Another man, Major Grace, then walks in and catches Ethel's eye. He looks over at them and she looks flirtatiously back.

Kathy finishes getting the café ready for Dot and Ethel. Ricky tells Kathy that Dot and Ethel have gone to a hotel and she then realises that Nigel did not give Dot the message she asked him to give her.

Dot and Ethel dance together. Major Grace then walks over to their table and introduces himself to them. Dot is uncertain about him. They end up getting to know each other and at the end of the evening, Major Grace asks Dot to go out for dinner with him. She agrees and they dine in the restaurant.

Mark enjoys himself during his time out. Arthur is pleased to see him smiling.

Dot heads to the toilets while Major Grace agrees to pay the bill. However, when she returns, a waiter informs her that he has told them that she will pay. She goes to get her purse and learns it has been stolen. She is devastated.

Kathy notices Mark with Gill's diary at the Vic and comments that she saw Mandy reading it in the café. Mark is furious and rushes back to the squat to find her. He ends up ripping the diary apart and throwing it at a wall. Mandy hands him the bottle of alcohol she stole. He starts to drink it.
