Summary[]
Gill and Mark settle on the Square. Rachel finds working for Pauline challenging. Pat returns and is riled when Frank has failed to find them a new home.

Rachel worries about a meeting the university are having about her remaining classes to decide whether they will keep them or cut them. She preoccupies herself with work at the café. Morris Men invade the Square on the May Day bank holiday. Arthur seizes the opportunity to sell potted plants for 50p with Jonathan. Frank visits Pat at the hotel, encouraging her to return to the Square and promising her he will find them a place when she returns. Steve sells burgers on the Square where the Morris Men are performing. Ian and Sharon are annoyed, fearing they will lose customers because of it. Dot offers to let Pat stay with her until they find somewhere and Pat takes her up on it. Sharon has a hat put on her head by one of the Morris Men, who indicates she will receive health, wealth and fertility from it. Grant sees it as a positive, hoping it will mean she will get pregnant soon. Lloyd wants to go to a house party. Celestine and Etta allow him to go but make him promise to be home by midnight. Rachel learns that the remainder of her courses have been cancelled and she is now unemployed. Pauline tells her that she has the job at the café. |
