Summary[]
As Michelle learns that Mark is HIV positive, she goes to talk to him about it, and then pushes Pauline and Arthur to get over it. Ricky surprises Sam with a new Golden Labrador puppy which irritates Frank. They then decide to name it Frankie, after him. Clyde's actions shock his father. Arthur lands a gardening contract with Christine Hewitt.
Michelle is in disbelief and overcome with emotions at her discovery. Mark apologises for not telling her sooner. She asks him how he contracted it but then realises he cannot tell her as he does not know who he got it from. Mark informs her that he is considering moving to Newcastle. Michelle argues that he should be near his family when his illness progresses; Mark is not convinced. He rides her back to Number 55. Kofi and Vicki's constant racket starts to frustrate the Taverniers. Pete continues working on the new kitchen while Arthur receives a phone call about a potential gardening contract - he agrees to meet the customer and give an estimate. Pauline wants Arthur to take Mark with him, but he refuses. Mark and Michelle hug it out after talking about his illness and relationships in more depth. He hurriedly leaves when Rachel returns home. Ricky buys Sam a puppy. Rachel apologises to Michelle for not telling her about Mark's HIV when she returns to the Square. Michelle tells her that Mark is considering moving to Newcastle; she plans to talk to Arthur about reconciling with Mark in the morning. Michelle asks Rachel if Vicki could be put up in her spare room. She agrees knowing this is more for Clyde and Michelle's benefit. Dot learns that Nick is being moved prisons. Celestine feels put-upon watching Vicki every night while Clyde is at work. Clyde informs his surprised family that he and Michelle are in an intimate relationship. Michelle argues with Arthur and Pauline over their ignorance towards HIV. She pleads with them to sort themselves out with Mark before it's too late. While questioning Sam about her new puppy, a customer of Frank's steals one of his show cars when he turns his back for a few seconds. Arthur meets Mrs Hewitt, the customer wanting to use his services. He evaluates the cost involved in renovating her garden and she agrees to pay. He gets to work immediately and finishes late. Michelle gives Clyde the good news about Vicki's new room. Clyde offers to clear out the spare room for Rachel. Frank is irritated by Ricky and Sam's new puppy. Sam decides to call the puppy Frankie in honour of Frank. Arthur returns to the Square and heads to the Vic to boast about his new garden contract. When he finally returns home, Pauline starts goading him about Mark's HIV and the fact that he will die one day from the disease. Arthur begins retaliating and ends up slapping Pauline, who slaps him back before storming off. |
