Summary[]
As New Year's Eve celebrations get underway at the Vic, Arthur and Pauline continue to try and accept the news of Mark's HIV. Meanwhile, Ricky is determined to find him and Sam somewhere to live.

Mark has spent the night at a hotel. Rachel drives his motorbike over to meet him. Tracey is unable to work her New Year's Eve shift due to illness. Clyde hopes that Michelle will be able to cover. Frank wants to take in homeless people as they will be paid by the DSS for every one they take in. Pat is not keen on the idea. Pauline is saddened to learn Mark is back from the hotel and has not been to see her yet. Ian hires a temporary worker which costs him more than he thought. Mark sits Pauline down and helps her work things through in her mind. Pete ends up disturbing their conversation. Arthur takes the children to the allotments to give him time to think. Ian gets drunk after another day of work. Kathy tries to get through to him but is unable to. Mark gives Pauline leaflets to read on HIV. Pauline tries giving them to Arthur, but he is ignorant and refuses to read them. He upsets Mark by throwing them everywhere. Mark storms out. Pauline tries talking to Arthur but he will not listen. She heads to the Vic without him. Ian gets drunk and winds Mark and Rachel up. The New Year's Eve countdown commences, and residents sing For Auld Lang Syne. Clyde and Michelle make up and kiss. Pauline heads home after the celebrations and finds Arthur asleep in his chair. She kisses him goodnight and leaves him there. |
