Summary[]

Mark visits Rachel and they discuss recent events. Karen becomes uncomfortable having Clyde and Michelle around. Pete tries making amends with Arthur but gets nowhere.

Michelle goes for an early morning walk along the beach alone. She finds a phone box and phones Number 45, but when Arthur answers she does not respond and hangs up.

Karen asks Clyde about his relationship with Michelle and notes the tense atmosphere between them; he asserts they are not romantically involved. Clyde reveals his plan to go to Jamaica with Kofi and needs a boat to cross the channel to France. She tells him she has a few contacts at the marina, but considering Clyde is on the run from the police, she does not want her friends to get into trouble; she will think on it. Michelle returns from her walk, and he relays Karen's idea to her.

Mark heads to Number 55. Rachel informs him that Michelle persuaded her to allow Clyde to stay there for several days, and she was forced to confess this to the police. She hopes Clyde and Michelle can get away, but selfishly she thinks it would be better for her if they were caught.

Karen explains to Clyde and Michelle about the problems with customs when chartering a private boat, along with their conspicuous nature. He suggests Karen helps him and Kofi with the boat crossing to France, and Michelle and Vicki can take the ferry and meet up with them at the other end. Michelle is visibly disappointed. Karen quickly recognizes Michelle's predicament and refuses to help Clyde cross the channel. He angrily leaves the flat.

Pete tries making amends with Arthur but gets nowhere. Pete tells Pauline he will leave Number 45 to look for another place to live, which upsets her.

Karen tries to have a friendly chat with Michelle about her relationship with Clyde but receives a frosty attitude in return. She walks off annoyed as Michelle apologizes for her rudeness. Karen explains she is uncomfortable having Clyde and Michelle around under the circumstances; she has moved on from Clyde and is not standing in Michelle's way. Michelle responds they are not really a proper couple, but she wants to be with Clyde while they look for a fresh start together. Karen gives Michelle the address of a marina and tells her to talk to someone called Carl, who might help her and Clyde escape to France.

Michelle finds Carl at the marina, and he directs her to Malcolm, who agrees to take her to France. He is disgruntled when he learns a man and two kids are accompanying her, but agrees to take them over for £200, plus £50 for the kids. Michelle agrees to pay and arranges to meet him at the marina at 3pm. Malcolm receives a phone call just after she leaves.

Clyde returns from his walk and learns from Karen that Michelle went looking for a boat to France. He argues she should not have gone on her own and becomes indignant when he hears Karen and Michelle have been chatting about him. Karen urges Clyde to tell Michelle where she stands with him before she gets fed up waiting.

Pauline visits Etta at Number 27 and the pair support each other.

Michelle returns with good news about the boat. Karen suggests they go to a nearby park with the kids before the journey. At the park, Clyde thanks Michelle for getting him out of London and finding a boat. He asks her if she means to split up when they get to France; she turns the question back to him. He reveals to Michelle that he does like her, but he is not sure a proper relationship would work between them. She tells him when they get to France, the decision will be down to him. They leave the park and head back to the flat.

Rachel stops by the café and chats with Mark about some details of Eddie Royale's murder. They surmise that Joe Wallace was in the Square the night Eddie was murdered, but the police may not have questioned him yet.

When Pauline returns to Number 45, Arthur rows with her again over Michelle's waywardness and Pete staying in the house. Pauline warns Arthur that if he is not careful, he will be living alone.

Mark phones directory enquiries searching for Joe's phone number and address, while the Fowlers tuck in for lunch. Pauline is fed up with the bad atmosphere at Number 45 and needs Arthur's support to ease the family tensions.

Etta berates Rachel for not letting her know Clyde was staying at Number 55 before he fled.

Karen leaves Clyde and Michelle some money to take with them to France. Clyde and Michelle arrive at the marina and walk towards the boat. She explains to Clyde she does not want to end up like her mum; she wants away from Walford to hopefully start a new life somewhere. He suggests they go to Jamaica together and she happily agrees. They head to meet Malcolm on the boat, but when they get there, they are greeted to police, who arrest Clyde and Michelle.
