Shirley gives Tina some money and tells her she has to run. Mick returns to the flat with Ollie to find Max waiting for him in the living room. They share a look. Ian has made a list of people who could have something against him. Sharon tells him to let the police do their job. Ian decides to apologise to all of them to prove to them he can change. Max tells Mick that Linda has been having an affair with him. Mick admits that he knows. Linda stops short when she returns to the flat and finds Max there. Linda orders Max out when he's eager to tell Mick everything. Tina paces up and down hysterically, as Shirley convinces her to do a runner. Tina throws the wad of cash at Shirley and walks out as Shirley orders her to go now. Honey reassures Jay that what they did was a mistake. They share a paused glance as Honey reminds him that it didn't mean anything. They decide to go and find Billy and explain everything. Linda tells Mick that they have been distant for months. Linda felt lonely and convinced herself that Mick didn't love her anymore. Linda pleads with Mick to open up and work things out. She screams at Mick to do something to save their marriage, but Mick just stares out across the room. Furious, Linda grabs a bottle of whiskey from under the tree and uses it to blackmail Mick. As she unscrews the lid, Mick tells her to stop and coolly tells her not to slip up on his account. Linda slaps him. Ollie has his hands over his ears, and Linda grabs her things before marching out. Billy tells Honey and Jay to stay away from him. They plead with him to hear them out. Billy looks devastated as Honey assures him it'll never happen again. He warns them that if it ever does, they're dead to him. Ian walks into the bar to find Kathy, Peter and Bobby waiting for him. Ian apologises to his boys. Bobby invites him to the community event to make up. Out in the Square, the giant Christmas tree's dazzling lights sparkle in the evening light, and a gospel choir is singing nearby. Tina walks along between the choir and the pub, wiping a tear from her cheek as she goes. She walks through the Square gardens, where Billy is sitting on Arthur's bench, looking thoughtful. Linda is standing nearby, her arms folded as she stares across at the flat. Tina arrives at Number 29B, begging Mick to help her. Mick apologises for the way he spoke to her. They plan to stay put and grow through it together, the Carter way. Linda barges in Number 27 and shouts at Max for what he's done. Calming down, Max confides in her about Tanya, Ruby and Stacey. Linda confesses that she still loves Mick, but it's over. Linda breaks down and leans over to lay her head across Max's arm. A big screen above The Prince Albert displays a slideshow of photos of Albert Square's past residents. A crowd gathers and looks at the pictures with fondness. A slide appears with Ian's image and the words 'R.I.P. Ian Albert Beale'. With a lock of horror, Ian glances over to his potential suspects. Ian walks away, looking shell-shocked, and Peter steps out from behind a section of decorated metal scaffolding smiling to himself as he watches Ian leave. |
