Summary[]
Sharon, now settled behind the bar of the Vic, is given a stark reminder of the boat crash that killed her son - leaving Ian more determined than ever to buy Dotty's silence. A desperate Chantelle seeks out a divorce lawyer from one of Gray's rival law firms. Mick searches for a job while Linda makes ends meet in the launderette. Callum gets a shock at work when trawling through CCTV footage of a burglary. Ruby and Martin try to ignore Kat's nasty comments about their relationship.

Meanwhile, Chantelle has been planning to divorce Gray. Ben's still struggling with his hearing and Callum has been working at Walford Police Station. Dotty's been given a court case over the drug dealing on possession on intent and Ian has been helping her out through blackmail. The Carters have moved into Number 29B, Linda's gotten herself a job at the launderette and Mick's been home schooling Ollie. A mural of a black women has been painted directly onto the side wall of Number 45. Suki has taken over the Minute Mart. Kat's returned to the Square, while Martin and Ruby have embarked on a relationship. The newly refurbished Queen Vic bust arrives at the Vic and Sharon is thrown to come across an old ghost. She probes at Ian to find out if anything on Denny came back at all. Chantelle arranges a meet-up with solicitor David to discuss divorce proceedings. She makes it clear that she wants no kind of blame game and still wants Gray to have access to the children. She's stunned to come home and find out that Gray has implanted a tracker on all of the family's phones. Callum saves the day when a thug snatches Shrimpy's money belt in the market. Later on, that day, he's shocked to learn he's been assigned the Danny Hardcastle case when he comes across a CCTV recording of Ben. Figuring out on what to do, he denies any evidence to DI Thompson. Ian escorts Dotty to her court case on possession on intent after the drug scandal in the club, blackmailing her into keeping quiet for the safety of her fate. Someone from the Trading Standards comes to inspect Pest Control after somebody has made a complaint. Suki reckons that Gray's behind it after speaking to one of her friends from the council. She urges Kheerat to get rid of Chantelle. Kheerat confronts Chantelle and she asks him to lend her a few grand – she needs his help, now. Kat's smug to see a loved-up Martin and Ruby in the Square. Ruby gets a phone call from the bank on suspicious transactions from her account. Dotty finally flies off the handle after speaking to Bobby about her father and the Cotton blood fires throughout her. She storms into the Vic, demands to speak to Sharon, and finally blurts out the hanging weight of words that Ian was responsible for Denny's death, leaving both Ian and Sharon stunned. |

Notes[]
- This was the first episode to be broadcast since 16 June 2020. After an 11-week absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a cessation of filming of BBC continuing dramas.
- EastEnders goes back to its four weekly episodes schedule. However, the episodes were now transmitted in a twenty/twenty-five minute slot instead of the usual half-hour - after filming became a more complex process under the socially-distanced guidelines, including enhanced and visual effects to allow the actors to be closer than two metres apart but still remaining protected. Scenes were filmed multiple times with the actors in different positions and then the shots were composited together to create the illusion that the actors were sat right next to each other.
- Return of Kat Slater, last seen on 23 March 2020.
- Shrimpy is uncredited despite having a speaking role.
- The mural of a black woman, painted by visual artist Dreph, became a permanent backdrop to storylines from this episode onwards. The mural was painted directly onto the side wall of Number 45, home to the Beale Family. The mural was completed over several days and was painted throughout the lockdown. Executive producer Jon Sen commented: "Anti-racism is something that cast, crew and producers care passionately about at EastEnders. The show is well known for tackling social issues and celebrating diversity and inclusivity through its characters and storylines."
- This episode was transmitted at the slightly later time of 8.05pm.
- Julian Spencer was credited as the stunt co-ordinator and Chris Morrison and Anna Stephenson were credited as the stunt performers in this episode.
- Radio Times synopsis: The Walford residents return after an 11-week absence. Callum fears Ben's crimes have caught up with them.
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast - 4,519,346 viewers (chart placing unknown).
Dialogue[]
DOTTY COTTON (about Nick Cotton): Take him or leave him, he didn't hide behind nothing or no-one. And, yeah, everyone might have hated him... but he knew exactly who he was... and he saw everyone else for what they were, too.
