Summary[]

Johnny does his best to make things up with Derek and encourages him to reveal what is really going on. Robbie tells Sonia that she needs to be honest with Bex if she expects her daughter to move in with her. Patrick feels guilty about Dot's accident. Mick starts to relax as he makes the final preparations for Linda's return home.


Dot is taken to hospital. Sonia accuses her neighbours of not caring about her. After struggling to find a bed on a ward, Dot is told that she needs an operation on her hip but Dot says she just wants to go home.

Johnny tracks down Derek to his home and Derek tells him he was fired because of his undisclosed criminal record, explaining that when he was 22, he had a relationship with a 20 year old man when the age of consent for gay men at the time was 21, so was sentenced to nine months in prison for gross indecency and afterwards he repressed his sexuality; Derek decides he should move away.

Mick discovers that he has a rash and tries to find out if he ever had chicken pox; worrying he will be contagious, he says Linda's party should be cancelled.
