Summary[]

Michelle reaches breaking point as she grows increasingly jealous of Preston and Bex's relationship and suggests to a confused Martin that the teenage American might not be right for his daughter. Things soon reach a head at the Carters' latest theme night, where Michelle's secret looks set to explode. Meanwhile, Tina is thrown when she learns that social services are coming to assess Sylvie tomorrow. Kush supports Denise after only a few people turn up for her community meeting and the pair are soon struggling to resist each other.


Michelle's terrified that the truth about her and Preston will come out if Dennis tells Louise that she slapped him. Preston, on the other hand, is fed up of being Michelle's dirty little secret. Michelle finds Dennis playing outside with a football. When she apologises for slapping him, he attempts to blackmail her - £100 or he'll tell Phil. Unaware that Louise is watching, an annoyed Michelle tries to drag Dennis back inside. Dennis kicks her, grabs his ball and runs off. Later, Michelle sees Preston and Bex in the café together, his hand on hers. Preston smiles when Michelle walks out. Louise finds Dennis at the playground and asks why he and Michelle were fighting. He reveals that Michelle hit him and explains that he saw her kissing Preston. Aghast, Louise insists that she'll sort it out. Michelle tries to warn Martin and Stacey that there's something going on between Bex and Preston but they aren't concerned. Martin later makes Bex promise to take things slowly with Preston, but admits that he seems like a good kid. Later, at the Vic, Preston helps Bex set up for her gig. Bex thanks Michelle for talking to Martin about Preston. Louise arrives and her behaviour immediately puts Michelle on edge, asking if Dennis has said something. In the ladies', Whitney's concerned when she sees Michelle knocking back sleeping tablets with a glass of wine. Martin persuades Michelle to stay for Bex's gig. Louise corners Bex and admits that she's been a cow. When she tells Bex that Preston is sleeping with Michelle, Bex laughs in disbelief and tells her to get out. Bex starts playing the gig but, seeing Preston put his hand on Michelle's shoulder, she breaks off mid song and (still on microphone) asks if it's true - is Michelle sleeping with her boyfriend?

Only Denise, Derek, Vincent and Kush attend the community meeting. When Derek asks about Kush's plans for his sponsored bike ride, it's clear that he's not made much progress. Derek reminds him they have minus £5 in the kitty for the Easter fair. Attention turns to Vincent and the entertainment but he admits that all Kim's come up with is "hook a duck'. Denise cancels the meeting, annoyed that no-one's making an effort. Left alone in the community centre, Kush and Denise start flirting whilst tidying up and are on the verge of kissing when Carmel walks in. Kush makes his excuses and leaves.
