The market traders' future seems to be in jeopardy. The Walford Gazette have run a front page story claimingthe council is to close the market. Arthur feels bad that Pete might lose the stall so soon after buying Pauline's share out, so offers to reverse the deal, but Pete declines.

An acquaintence of Grant and Phil's called Max turns up, requiring some body work doing fast on a dodgy motor.

Wicksy helps Ian decorate, painting over the huge mural left behind from when Hazel squatted the flat with Rod.

Kathy has an encounter with Nick Cotton in the Launderette. He apologies for the time he blackmailed her, forcing her to tell Pete she'd been raped, and explains to her that he has found God and is trying to start again.

Diane gets a visit from Matthew, the weird photographer guy she spent the week with whilst she was sleeping rough. He's somehow found her address and phones the B&B multiple times from his car phone whilst parked outside, asking to see her, but she declines each time. In the early hours of the morning he eventually drives off, but not before leaving a life-size naked statue of Diane in the middle of Albert Square Gardens.
