Mick wakes up Nancy and Lee with Stan's old foghorn – Linda and Oliver are due home soon and Mick wants their help making the place baby-proof. As Mick, Nancy and Lee attempt to build a cot, Buster arrives with a toy elephant for the baby. Mick questions why Shirley didn't bring it over herself. When Buster claims that he wants to put an end to the hostility, Mick orders him out. Later, Mick sees Buster in the café, who confides that Shirley's in bits. Mick explains to Buster that he thought the pair of them had an understanding - until Buster showed up at the hospital with Dean. Before leaving, Mick tells Buster that Shirley's dead to him. Mick's unimpressed when he returns to find the cot still not made and is unsure when Nancy reveals that she's brought Buster along to help build it. Buster successfully puts the cot together – there's a thawing between him and Mick and Mick places Shirley's present in the cot. As Cindy tries to revise, Beth starts crying. Jane hurries down to soothe her, but when Jane asks Cindy to answer her phone for her, Cindy gathers her things and leaves. Carol spots Liam and Cindy together and isn't impressed that he's taken time out from revision. When Liam goes to stick up for Cindy, Cindy tells him not to bother – no-one listens to her anyway. Carol clocks Cindy's mood and later corners Jane, asking whether Cindy's okay. Carol finds Cindy in the Square gardens, who confides that she just wants Beth to have everything she never had. Carol reminds Cindy that there is a different solution – Beth could be adopted by another couple. Shirley's confused when Dean aggressively asks her what she thinks of Shabnam, before proclaiming that he's going to find out the truth. A tired Kush has just returned from Amsterdam and asks a passing Tamwar whether Shabnam has mentioned anything - she's not answering his texts or calls. As Shabnam appears from the Minute Mart, she gives Kush the cold shoulder. As a worried Kush questions Martin and Stacey over what might be wrong, Martin comes clean – he showed Shabnam the photo of Kush in the red light district. Stacey finds Shabnam who immediately voices her concerns – Dean's going to ask more questions about the baby and she doesn't know what to say. When Shabnam is adamant that Kush can never find out, Stacey disagrees – he'll understand. Shabnam finds Kush in the café and the atmosphere between them thaws. However, when Shabnam is distracted by Dean's presence, Kush snaps – he doesn't know why he bothers. Kush tells Shabnam that the pair of them are done and Shabnam drops a bombshell - she's asked her auntie to arrange her a match. Dean backs Stacey into an alleyway and demands that she tell him about the baby – he knows Shabnam's lying. Kush catches them and aggressively sends Dean on his way, before offering to walk Stacey home. Back at the flat, the pair open a bottle of wine. As they chat, Kush suggests that things could have worked out differently between them, before kissing Stacey. Dean arrives back at Patrick's, who adamantly tells Shirley and Buster that he has a little girl out there somewhere - she isn't dead. When Stacey states that Shabnam needs Kush, Kush realises that there's something Stacey isn't telling him. When Kush presses, Stacey comes clean - Shabnam had a daughter seven years ago whom she abandoned. |
