Dean sits in the hospital corridor and, when he overhears a nurse refer to baby Carter, tries to push his way in but is refused - only family are allowed. Lee receives a text from Linda - it's a video of the baby. Lee deletes it without watching. Lee finds Nancy and Whitney putting up congratulatory baby balloons in the Vic and angrily pops one, stating that they don't even know whose baby it is. Nancy's fuming and reminds him that he's their little brother regardless. Dean admits to Shirley and Buster that he's been to the hospital. Shirley's not impressed. Dean gushes about seeing baby Carter, telling the pair that he was tiny, but healthy. Dean admits that he felt a connection to him, he's sure that he's his. Shirley and Buster are concerned and Shirley tells Dean to stay away, she'll sort things. Mick arrives back at the Vic and overhears Nancy and Whitney telling Lee that he can't not visit Linda and the baby. Mick corners Lee on his own and questions what's wrong. Lee admits that he's scared that he'll never be able to love him. When Lee struggles with the fact that the baby is yet to even be named, Mick fills him on an anecdote. Just like when he named him after Lee Majors. He's waiting to give the baby the right name. Lee leaves, feeling better, but once alone, a shadow of doubt creeps over Mick's face. Shirley and Buster find Mick outside the Vic, Shirley states how desperate she is to meet the baby, but Mick refuses her wishes. Whitney, Nancy and Lee arrive at the hospital. Linda and Mick leave the trio to get acquainted with the baby and are stricken when they find Shirley, Buster and Dean trying to get into the ward. Shirley confronts Mick, he needs to know the truth and he needs to do a DNA test. Roxy tries to calm an anxious Charlie who is off to give evidence at Dot's trial. Ritchie Scott meets with Dot and tries to convince her to focus, but a distant Dot merely claims that the trial is in the hands of Jesus. Phil visits Ronnie in hospital and informs her that he's told Ritchie to dig up everything that she can on Vincent. Charlie and Roxy arrive and are taken aback when Ronnie is adamant that she's heading to court too what kind of wife would she be if she didn't?' As everyone takes their seats in court, there is a sigh of relief when the prosecution admit that they have been unable to find the drug dealer. However, the relief is short lived when Yvonne is called to the stand. When Yvonne is questioned, she purports that Dot controlled Nick ever since he was born. The defence point out that Yvonne never heard from Nick again after she left Walford - he can't have felt threatened. Charlie is stunned to see Yvonne in the courthouse reception and begs to know what she said in the stand. When he realises that she's testified against Dot, he calls Yvonne out for being as bad as Nick, before telling her that he never wants to see her again. Charlie takes to the stand and admits that Dot now knows that Nick can't make any more trouble for her. The prosecution leap onto this as a suggestion that Dot wanted an end to the grief he caused. When Charlie deems Nick as evil, Dot interjects. The judge dismisses the jury, before stating that he's concerned for Dot's welfare. The judge reminds Dot that, despite the advice from her legal counsel, she could choose to give evidence under oath. Dot takes to the stand and tells the court she has no idea how to prepare or inject heroin. When the defence stipulate that this is why Dot's fingerprints were not found on the syringe, the prosecution suggest that this is only due to her deliberately wearing gloves. Kat and Alfie receive their cheque for a million pounds but Kat's uneasy and comes clean to Stacey she and Alfie are looking at bars in Spain. Stacey heads off for an interview at a hairdresser's but assures Kat and Alfie that she thinks they're doing the right thing. Later, Stacey chucks a cup of coffee over the window of Blades. When Dean heads outside, he is met by a fuming Stacey, who claims that she didn't get the job because of him giving her an awful reference. Stacey fills Alfie and Kat in on her bad news and Kat states that they aren't going anywhere until Stacey is sorted. Alfie offers Stacey the stall, and suggests he'll pay the pitch fees for a year. |
