Summary[]

Ian struggles with the final preparations for Lucy's funeral and flees to see a familiar face. Worried about Shirley, Mick is desperate to put things right and is surprised when Stan offers to help. Max is put in an awkward situation when Ian turns to him for comfort.

Denise arranges to meet Ian at Coker's with Lucy's funeral outfit. Ian's concerned that they've yet to have an RSVP from Jane and Christian. When the time comes, Ian stands outside the funeral parlour but can't bring himself to go inside. As Lauren helps him fold the funeral Orders of Service, Peter questions whether Ian will forgive him for not immediately telling him about Lucy's body being released.

David's surprised to learn that Max is attending Lucy's funeral.

In Birmingham, Christian's surprised when Ian turns up at his flat and tells him that Jane is out. Christian assures Ian that he, Jane and Bobby will be at the funeral. Ian's surprised to see how much Yasmin's grown. Ian heads home to Walford, where Max finds him sat forlornly in his car on the Square and brings him inside.

In Birmingham, Jane tells Christian that she can't attend Lucy's funeral. Christian thinks it's because she's jealous of Denise but Jane's too scared to see Ian broken.

Meanwhile, Ian breaks down on Max - he wonders how Max coped after Bradley died. Abi returns home with Jay, upset and convinced that she's failed her exam. She tenses on seeing Ian with Max. Ian thanks Max for his support before heading home. Peter and Denise have been worried, but Ian doesn't tell them where he's been. Later, Denise finds out where Ian really was when Christian phones asking if Ian got home all right.

In Max's house, Abi questions whether Max even cares about Ian. Max argues that of course he does - Ian has just lost his daughter who was the same age as Lauren. Disgusted, Abi snaps back that it didn't stop Max sleeping with Lucy.

Mick's worried for Shirley after finding her slumped, drunk, at the kitchen table with an empty vodka bottle. Stan regrets bringing Dean to the Vic but thinks that Mick should give Dean time to cool down. With Tina and Tosh back in their flat, Linda thinks it's time that Stan left too. The painters fail to turn up to decorate the Vic and Linda, Tina and Nancy muck in to help paint. After recruiting Stan's help to call Dean, Mick meets Dean in the café. He apologises for hitting Dean but maintains that he won't have him disrespecting his sister. Mick explains that he gave Stan a second chance and is happy to have him back in his life and says that he could have that with Shirley.

Denise is delighted to see Dean but gently informs him of Pat's death. Dean leaves a single flower on the garden wall of the Butchers' house.

Mick agrees that Stan can stay on longer at the Vic until he's back on his feet. Shirley thinks that Stan is playing him. Mick tells Shirley that he and Stan won't rest until she's had it out with Dean. As they clean up from painting, Tina recalls to Mick that the only time Stan decorated when they were younger was when Mick was a baby and they had to go to A&E after he slipped in the bath. Mick's confused when Tina doesn't remember their mum being around. During a family takeaway dinner, Stan off-handy confirms Tina's story that their mum had left by then.

Johnny is on the market handing out flyers for Friday's comedy night in The Albert. Sharon insists that they'll cancel because of Lucy's funeral, but Ian tells her that life must go on. Later in the Vic, Johnny searches online for gay bars, when Linda comes in to the kitchen he quickly shuts the laptop. Johnny tells Linda that the plans for the comedy night aren't going well so she mucks in and helps. Linda phones her mum for the name of a compere - Jack Macrae. She opens Johnny's laptop looking for Jack Macrae's website and sees the club website. Johnny's embarrassed as Linda quickly snaps the laptop shut, claiming it's none of her business.

At the Butchers', Bianca and Whitney enthuse about planning Carol's hen night, while Carol protests she hasn't agreed to it and doesn't think it's appropriate with Lucy's funeral the next day.

Max teases David about not having a stag do. David's pleased when Carol eventually agrees to a low key hen night but is troubled to spot Liam watching them.
