Summary[]

Doctor Legg confronts Doctor Samuels over what he sees as his failings at the practice. Carmel, still hiding at home, receives a call from Matthew asking her to visit him in hospital, where he begs her to let him come return home. Pat clocks that the B&B at 20 Albert Square has its lease up for sale, and starts making plans. Dot is considering divorcing bigamist Charlie. Julie plans for her new salon go awry when she receives a letter from the leaseholder saying they want the whole block back to turn into a 'poncey pizza parlour'. She and Paul go and view the vacant chip shop premises in Turpin Road as a plan B.

Junior has a nightmare as recent events continue to affect him. Carmel comforts him. Matthew recovers from the stabbing in his hospital bed.

Paul sneaks back into the Vic in the early hours of the morning. Diane makes Paul breakfast, determined not to let their ruined date night spoil what they have together.

Ali misses out on the nursery place for his son but delights in finding a babysitter via an ad instead. Michelle encourages Ali to find out if the babysitter is qualified.

Pat sets her eyes on Number 20.

Carmel gets wary when the door knocks. It is David.

Julie receives a letter informing her that she will be paid to give up her hairdressing salon to allow the amusement arcade to take it over. She is indecisive on what to do.

David tells Carmel that he knows she is the victim of abuse and helps her to talk about her struggles. She breaks down and admits that Matthew beats her. Matthew tries phoning Carmel from his hospital bed. She answers his call.

Doctor Legg is shocked to learn that David has cancelled home visits for the elderly and is refusing to see Ethel and the other residents at her sheltered accommodation.

Julie looks at a fish bar for sale on Turpin Road.

Carmel visits Matthew in the hospital. He begs her to take him back.
