Summary[]

Ben, Jay and Shirley enjoy a rare day out together and things finally seem to be looking up for the Mitchells. However, Jay's world soon comes crashing down around him.


Shirley's manically de-cluttering the house. Ben's upset Phil wants to sell the stock car before he's had the chance to race. Shirley grows impatient with Jean's meddling on the burger van and calls Andrew. Jay arranges a last go on the stock car for a potential buyer. Although Jay's lap is faster, Shirley and Jay announce Ben the winner. Phil splits the money from the car sale between the boys. He's unimpressed Shirley's sold the burger van to Andrew for £5. Jay's stowing Ben's share in his money tin when it falls over. Rummaging under Ben's bed, Jay pulls out the photo frame, still wrapped in the tea towel.

After losing a coin toss, AJ has to fund Derek's car repairs and borrows £20 from Masood. AJ spots Syed kissing Christian but when Syed greets AJ he neglects to mentions him. AJ contemplates the bookies, then tries to con Alfie using a matchbox trick. In the Minute Mart, AJ pretends to stop a shoplifter stealing scratch cards. Denise offers a reward but AJ admits the truth when he realises they have CCTV, claiming he wanted to speak to Denise. Later, Syed's wary to find AJ with Christian. AJ fakes disgust at Syed's lies, then laughs and asks to borrow £200. AJ fixes Derek's car mirror. The men are enjoying a boys night when Zainab arrives home early, furious to see AJ.

Fuming, Ray moves into 29B. Kim crashes a wake at the Vic and convinces Mr Coker, the funeral director, to give Sasha work experience. Ray can't help but smile.

Kat's lover leaves a package containing a new mobile, which she bins. Kat suggests some alone time with Alfie but when he includes the kids, Kat retrieves the mobile and calls her lover.
