Summary[]
Alfie is devastated as he learns of Kat's infidelity with Andy. Kat arrives home and is shocked to discover that he knows. She pleads with Alfie to let her explain and they have a heartbreakingly honest discussion that leads them both to confront the skeletons in their cupboards.

Kat arrives home chirpy and cheerful and grabs a bottle of champagne before heading upstairs to carouse with Alfie. She catches Alfie watching a dirty film and finds it amusing before she realises the tape is of her and Andy's liaison. Her face drops. Kat tries pleading with Alfie, but he becomes erratic. Insults start flaring throughout the room leading to Kat hitting Alfie and him hitting her right back, leaving her stunned. Everything becomes too much for Alfie and he breaks into tears. Kat makes up feeble excuses and Alfie can't help but sarcastically laugh at her attempts. Alfie doesn't feel any sympathy when Kat tells him she only slept with Andy to sort out Alfie's debts. Alfie feels an even bigger mug when he realises he paid Andy after he slept with his wife. Past emotions come to a head for Alfie when he recalls the events of his parents' death from a car crash - he reveals that he has always felt guilty for the accident. Alfie tells Kat that their marriage has come to an end and Kat goes to pack. She takes a sit in the living room and the song that played at their wedding blares from the CD player. Sam and Andy return from a night out together. Sam notices that Andy's mind has been preoccupied on something else though. Kat tries pleading with Alfie that Andy won't win if they stay together, but Alfie is keeping his pride too high. Before leaving the Vic in tears, Kat reassures Alfie that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. As she walks out onto the Square, she hears the Vic's doors open behind her and Alfie appears. They stare into the eyes of each other before Kat holds out her hand and he takes it. They're both determined to get through this, despite how tough it's going to be. |
