Summary[]
Jamie tells Sonia to stop hassling him about the police. Trevor is on his best behaviour with Little Mo. Billy takes the vermouth off Barry. Laura's gran has died and she goes to visit her family for two weeks. Natalie resigns from her job. Peggy offers her and Barry the job of managing the Vic.

Sonia hassles Jamie and he says she's worse than the police. She goes round to Phil's and Phil says can't she leave Jamie alone for two minutes, he's fine. She says he's not, and Phil asks her to come in. She goes on about how Jamie usually tells her everything and she knows something is wrong, and Phil decides to put her off and delays her by telling her to come in and have some coffee. He says that Jamie might want to forget about the whole thing and that's why he won't talk about it. Phil tells her to drop it and Sonia refuses, and says she will carry on pestering Jamie until he tells her. Phil tells Jamie that they have a problem and Sonia is too sharp. Jamie says she would understand why Phil set Dan up, but Phil says Sonia would only need a fit of conscience and not only would Dan walk free, they would be in a lot of trouble. Phil says Jamie is the only one he has told, and the only person he can trust, and he wants it kept that way. Jamie sees Sonia again and apologises. The Slaters worry about Little Mo and Trevor. He is giving her a surprise - breakfast. She's grateful to find a bit of toast and a daffodil on the table. Mo phones her to check she's OK. She's terrified of making a mistake with the dinner and rushes off. When the phone rings again, Trevor answers and says Mo has gone out shopping, while she stands there ironing. Then he unplugs the phone. She apologises. Terry gets a birthday card, and moans on about Irene. Janine goes on about Irene taking all his money! Terry muses that it's not like Irene, coming back and taking all his money without contacting him. He wonders about asking around in the Vic and Janine says he can't - it will be the talk of the Square. He then wants to phone Rosa to ask where Irene is, and Janine manages to persuade him that Rosa will just say what Irene wants him to say. Barry is phoning the brewery to get them to take back the vermouth but they're having none of it. Barry persuades Peggy to let him take charge by himself and she takes Charlie up on his offer of a sightseeing tour around London. Barry asks Billy about shifting the vermouth and Billy says he can't help him. Barry has a stand up row with Billy over the 16 cases and Peggy walks in! Peggy says Barry is an idiot - they have to take it back. Barry is too much of a liability - so he has to get his coat. Natalie arrives to tell Barry her bad news too - and says she has got the sack, and his bad news can't be as bad as hers. Peggy sighs and says she will get them both a drink. They sit down miserably and Peggy comes over and says Natalie can do the ordering and the books because Barry is hopeless at it and he can stay behind the bar. They hesitate with surprise, then jump at the jobs. Laura has to sort out her grandmother's funeral. Pat tells her to take as much time as she needs to go and sort it, while Ian worries about the chip shop and the kids. She leaves. Phil sees Billy and asks him where Dan is. Phil gets Billy up against a wall and asks if he disappeared who would care. He says he could just put him in a sack and chuck him in the canal, but there's no rush - he's not going anywhere. Sonia arrives and Jamie has a take-away. He tries to fob her off and tells her that he wakes up with nightmares and he didn't tell her because he was so scared and didn't want to tell her that. He says he told the police everything like she said. He says please don't tell Phil he was a scared and she kisses him. Billy manages to get his side of the Trevor story to the Slaters, and explains that he only did what Mo told him. Mo is in trouble with Charlie! They moan that Trevor could be doing anything to Little Mo, but back at his, they are cuddling until Mo says that she's sorry that Billy winds him up but he has nothing to be jealous of. He goes quiet and annoyed at the mention of the name. Phil arrives as Sonia is leaving and she tells Phil smugly that she told him she would get Jamie to tell her everything. Phil is annoyed and shouts at Jamie asking what he told her. Jamie is annoyed that Phil doubted him and says he did exactly what Phil told him and lied for him - again. Phil is pleased but Jamie looks annoyed when Phil pats him on the back. |
