Summary

It was the day of Ethel's funeral and the mood was sombre. However, for Albert Square's newest residents it was a fresh start. A white van pulled up outside number 23. It was to be the new home for Charlie Slater and his daughters. Grandmother Mo Harris was also part of the package, but for her it was a return visit to Walford.

Garry, Lynne and Kat stepped our the van, Little Mo had travelled in the back with the furniture! Zoe and Mo arrived in Charlie's black cab. The family's excitement was soon dampened - they had the wrong keys. Robbie Jackson appeared, keen to assess the Square's latest talent. Then Ian Beale ordered them to make room for the funeral cortege. Little Mo was aghast at this bad omen.

All the family's goods and chattels were piled up in the lounge. There seemed to be some doubt as to whether there would be enough room. A scruffy but imposing chair was the focus of debate. It had belonged to Charlie's wife Viv, who had recently passed away. Charlie, Kat and Lynne felt it was time to make a break with the past. But Little Mo refused to part with the chair.

Pat Evans was Mo Harris' mortal enemy, and the feeling was mutual. Mo had been married to Pat's brother Jimmy Harris. There was unfinished business between the two women and Pat wanted to bury the hatchet. In the Vic, she approached Mo and offered her an olive branch. Mo was typically ungracious. This feud would run and run.
