There's a sombre mood on the day of Ethel's funeral. A new family move onto Albert Square. A white van pulls up outside Number 23. Roy and Pat go round to Pauline's before the funeral. Roy is fussing over a hymn that he does not know. Anita is there and tells them all Ethel has left some presents to be handed out after she had died. Garry, Lynne, Kat and Little Mo arrive in Albert Square and begin unloading the removal van. They can't get in their new house - 23 Albert Square - as they haven't got the keys. Ian watches out of his window. Charlie arrives in his cab with Mo and Zoe. Mo goes to unlock the door, but finds it won't open. The catch on the lock from the inside is on. Jamie quickly walks past. Robbie and Sonia stick their heads out of an upstairs window. Ian goes out into the Square and tells them they cannot leave the cab and the removal van blocking the road. The funeral cortege arrives and Charlie rushes to move the cab. Little Mo is aghast by the bad omen. As people gather in the Square to pay respects to Ethel, Jamie sneaks in through the front window at number 23 and opens the front door. Sonia is wearing Ethel's wedding ring. Janine whinges about not knowing Ethel much but is told by Phil to shut up. Pat, Roy, Frank and Peggy go in one of the funeral cars. Pat is shocked to see rival Mo stood outside number 23 with her family. At the church, Doctor Legg is already there and Dot and Pauline meet Ethel's nephew, Eddie, who they have not seen for years. Everyone stands as the hymn starts. Dot is the only one singing as she knows the words. Meanwhile, Garry tries to chat up Melanie in the Vic. |
